Odds of Biden stepping down

  • Total voters

Of course, because the alternative that the Republicans are running is a fascist traitor.
I would too. And that's lovely and all. But guess what, we have to win over the average American voter, and especially in five swing states, and even in the non-swing states we need incredible turnout to keep the Senate and take back the house.

So if you think that putting up an candidate not fully competent to do that is the right way to win this election, I have a bridge to sell you, and it's in Narnia.

All scripted events besides the interview, which wasn't even live. It's like you can't even read the posts that speak facts because god forbid something cancels your cognitive dissonance. Really sad.

So...were you a Bernie supporter? You come off like one of those disgruntled Bernie Bros from a few years ago. "If you don't agree with me, you're in a cult."

I liked Bernie, but I didn't think he could win, and I didn't think he would get much of anything accomplished even if he did win. I voted for Hilary in the primary and the general election and was vocal about voting for her both on social media and in my three dimensional world. Edit: Also I remember getting choked up voting for Hilary on election day, seeing so many people waiting in line to do so, and voting for the first woman president, who was so so qualified too.

These people are not disagreeing, they are ignoring reality, obfuscating reality, ignoring things that don't fit their narrative, all to support a single person/ality.

It's a cult at this point. The cognitive dissonance is quite impressive. I thought this level of dissonance was reserved for far far leftists, and almost the whole GQP. Turns out a bunch of regular Dems are in a cult now. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

I just printed out the form to change my voter registration to unaffiliated. IF there is a primary around here that really matters, I can switch back to Dem to vote on that as close as the day of that election. Otherwise, I think the Democratic party at this point is a failure. I will vote Democratic, I am just not a Democrat anymore.

Imagine saying who the candidate is doesn't matter in an election. Which is basically what you just said. That's fucking insane.

The SCOTUS just destroyed their own credibility and the Constitution by abandoning the rule of law for a convicted felon, rapist, fraud, insurrectionist and traitor. One who has repeatedly sold out the American people's future and security, and who bears responsibility for more American deaths than all of our wars combined.

We are through the looking glass here squished. Tribal politics now being what they are, with extremism taking the wheel on one side especially, you probably shouldn't be this shocked, should you?

Yes but what does that have to do with the insane statement I was responding to - the person basically saying, it doesn't matter who OUR candidate is, because they will get attacked no matter what. Do you agree that in order to fight the entities like the Supreme Court and defeat Trump will work with the attitude - hey our candidate doesn't matter cause people are going to say mean shit about any of them?

Did that understanding come before or after Jan 6th?

Americans aren't a monolithic group, you know that.

The best I can do is say for rational people able to put country before party? Long before. For those still wrestling with culture war ties and a love of tribalism, who love their infotainment and tend not to think hard about things unless personally affected by them? Much later unfortunately.

Was there ever any doubt who that would be? If he was in a wheel chair drooling on his chest he'd still be the democrat candidate and you'd still vote for him.
If I were American, I’d proudly say I voted for a drooling invalid over the narcissistic felon.

Polling seems somewhat mixed still, given the last week.

Democratic Derangement Syndrome is real, and we shouldn't act like the media is some independent actor who is "just reporting on what everyone knows". They just constantly love to push "dems in disarray" style stories, because that's what draws clicks, and some people latch onto those self-destructive stories like lampreys. Candidates certainly matter, and Harris could be a better choice. But the way forward, regardless of the path selected, is far from clear, and the media will continue to do what it does.
And I have said many times the playing field we have is fucked up and biased against Dems. Not just the media coverage, but also the system itself, with the EC and so many small backwards red states getting two senators, the House of Reps being capped which again screws over more populous blue states. I have never not acknowledged that, and in fact have stated that so many times in various posts consistently on here.

But some people are using it as an excuse to say our candidate doesn't matter much at all.

So I watched the interview with Georgie. Sure seemed like George had an agenda...push Biden into dropping out of the race. It certainly wasn't Biden's strongest performance, but it wasn't terrible. One thing that caught my attention. He said that even when the microphones were off, Trump kept yelling. WTF happened to the guy who told him "Would you just shut up, man!" a few years ago?

I watched the entire debate on CNN and didn't see Trump or Biden yelling with the microphones off or on. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think so.

Did anyone else see anyone yelling with the Mic off?

I don't agree with your assessment of it being insane obviously. The belief that the GQP will sling lies like mud at anyone in order to further their agenda has been born out by recent history many, many times. They eat their own remember. This isn't really up for debate. Remember how they shit on the pope soon as he took a moderate position on the gays?

I think perhaps you are more concerned with the internal view on the 'candidate doesn't matter' take maybe? That it means the party can suddenly not care about qualifications? The short answer is don't worry, Biden playing by the rules wrt funding and delegates isn't going to erase the primary system. To be clear, the Dems are saying the input from malignant cultists who will never vote for us should be irrelevent to our decision making process. Far from insane, that's completely reasonable.

There are a number of things to be super pissed about right now. I don't feel like this is one of them.

It helps that according to the actual fucking Constitution, there is only one eligible person running. Doesn't get easier than that.

I too shall be proud to vote for the only Constitutionally approved candidate there is - which will be anyone on the D ticket.

Where did I ever say we should take into consideration what MAGA thinks when selecting our candidate?

Deduced from your horror regarding the other poster's position of ignoring magat input.

To be more clear: there is no scenario where the magats don't act like their opponents are the real fascists. It's a team sport to these assholes, with some WWE thrown in. You act like they have a problem with lying, over manners.

No R? Might as well be a *gasp* Palestinian! The Dem's BLM gazpacho police will force gay marriage, gun seizures and sangria law on everyone. Aint right.

At this point the Dems look like the kid who had 3 months to do a book report and is waiting until the night before it's due to write it up. And lied to their parents all along that everything was fine.

Like others have said...the damage may be irreversible at this point. Even if Biden stays in they'll just clown him for half his party wanting him to drop out. And Biden and his team don't have the messaging to counter it.

It's also time to start thinking about how best to salvage down ballot effects. Jobs reports keep getting revised downward with the large majority being government jobs to begin with. Look for the GOP to combine this with "they gaslit you about Biden" and try to damage Dem credibility/trust. This is how you get a GOP trifecta in November.

except I never did anything of the sort. Feel free to quote what I said and in response to what. Good luck.

At this point you look like the kid who has been wrong about everything major election in the last 4 years.

Still cracks me up to hear you talk about other people's credibility/trust. Envy does weird things to people I guess.

Well who am I to argue with MrSquished and Greenman.

I’m ready guys. Tell me who to vote for.
This HAS NEVER been about who to vote for. It is an argument over how to best defeat Trump.

A half-dead candidate who cannot push back, let alone fight back, is hardly going to drive home and deliver a good campaign. We deserved better.
People's behavior here reminds me a bit of HBO's Chernobyl and the deep denial, deflection and coverup. Ego first, reality last.

As we KEEP saying. Biden could actually be dead and we would still vote for "him" over Trump. Always has been.
The problem is that many of our countrymen likely do not share the same opinion.

Heaven forbid if we were capable of producing anyone in the country who could go out and inspire people to believe in a better future. Whose charisma could speak to the American people and win over their votes. Instead of "Well at least he isn't dead yet". That it has come to this to defend us from fascism is just f!@#$ing sad.
