I remember playing Thundercats on the jungle gym in our school playground. I always wanted to be Panthro, but so often ended up having to be Tygra. 🙁

Waiting patiently for the next Sierra game to come out. Endless summer nights playing Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist, Betrayal at Krondor, Quest for Glory, King's Quest... Saving enough money to even buy those games was a chore. But it was so special and each game would give about a years worth of entertainment.
Same thing with Civilization.

Also, this weird Jalapeno Squeeze Cheese that came in a tube with a plastic spout. It was good on crackers.

I used to play Lone Ranger and Tonto with a friend of mine. He was always Lone Ranger, so he got the star parts. I bitched about it, and I finally got to be Lone Ranger once, but I didn't know what to do; I was used to being Tonto. Ever since then I've been conservative in what I ask for :^D

Metal slides! High, very high ones,

As a kid in the early 80's, we had one at the local Kmart that was a couple stories or so high, had 4 lanes and ladders and we put on potato sacks to ride it down.
Then one day a kid fell off and died, shut it down from being used but it took quite a few years until Kmart finally took the slide down, i'd guess kids and teens likely sneeked in there late at night to ride it. All they had to do was just put up taller side skirts and add stair case so no one could just fall off like that and it would have been fine....waterparks have no troubles, wish more slides like that were available.

My grandma had one of these, I don't know why but I freaking loved it. I honestly don't remember if there was even a point to it? I remember always hearing that in Asia they had huge stores full of them that people sat around and played all day long.

Maybe the most retarded toy from my childhood, Electric Football! I seem to remember that me and my friends played it a lot. There was nothing that wasn't horrible about it. It's really amazing how easly kids were amused in the 80s. I'm pretty sure no kid today would play this piece of shit. It didn't work at all and was nothing but frustrating, I remember it taking an hour to maybe score once. And even that was just totally random luck. The rumbling was annoying and loud. Mine had a kicker that you could make "kick" a tiny foam ball for a field goal. I remember I had 2 sets of actual NFL teams. And it was so fucking slow, ugh! I was the kid on the block "lucky" enough to get this for my Birthday, fuck! lol.

rock-em-sock-em.jpg

Simple with no strategy due to how crummy it was overall. Boxing robots? this has to be bad ass! But it never worked right. It was flawed to the point of making 9 year old's cuss, but we couldn't stop playing it. Winning was nothing but luck and totally random. It broke a lot and the rubber bands had to be jimmied to get it back to playable condition. Sad thing is if I had enough Newcastles in me I'd probably play it with my boys if I still had it.

I can't find a pic but Whirly Bird, it was a helicopter on a rod, you could make it go in a circle and up and down. It didn't do shit but everyone I knew had to have it. I remember feeling deprived because I never got one. How and the shit did this keep up entertained for hours on end? And why the fuck can't I find any pictures of it on teh Goggles?! This was a primo toy in the early 80's, I must not be remembering the name properly, what the fuck was this??

LOL I just went on Youtube and found a how to play Pachinko video, and the scary thing is it wasn't 8 seconds. It was over 3 minutes. And while I had a Whee-Lo that's not the toy on a rod. this one was electric and had a helicopter. It might have had a hook and there were small army type men you could pick up with it.

Yeah, I remember the cereal box records, electric football (still have 2 or 3 teams in a box somewhere), and the rock'em and sock'em robots. Once I got my Atari in 79 or 80, those things fell by the wayside (though I picked electric football back up in the mid 80s).

Maybe not odd, but this thing was bad ass back in the days
