OCZ Memory: Are they able to regain consumer trust?

I don't understand why their re-instatement is even being re-considered.

What does it take... Do they have to come to your front porch and slap you?

To forget the past is to repeat it..... and NO I DO NOT BELIEVE "SECOND CHANCES" ARE IN ORDER WHEN IT COMES TO DISHONEST BUSINESSES

It would be just plain stupid to accept any information concerning reforms from a PROVEN LIAR.

I bought a stick of 3200 512 mg OCZ from Ramstore.ca just recently to put in a new Asus P4PE system and so far would recommend both the memory and the retailer.

I was unaware of this. I have contacted Scott to verify this information, he hasnt gotten back to me yet. If this is true I believe it is somewhat the final nail on the coffin.

I used OCZ memory in the past on my mothers computer... and she still hasn't complained about any type of instability or anything along those lines (a miracle) so I'm sold on their products lol

Whoever it's run by (was told OCZ) i dunno, but it's totally useless memory. it has caused lots of headaches and i am going to ditch it as soon as monday rolls around. :disgust:

I found this intersting, so I did a quick search on google. I found a link to OCZ PC-180 Micro-BGA 256MB SDRAM Review. That review was done by hardwareoc.com, which is now defunct, but was owned by OCZ. That is just a wee bit unethetical to review one's own products claiming to be a third party.

my friend down the hall here bought a gig of PC2700 OCZ memory and GF4 TI-UNKNOWN 128MB videocard from OCZ...

poor ignorant guy doesnt even know what the hell he bought, but all he knows is that it was advertised to run past GF4 TI4600 speeds. I suspect its a Ti4200 BIOS-flashed. On his brand new system, the card scores a few points higher than me and my setup is worse than his (xp2200 1gb pc2700 gf~4600 vs xp1700 256mb pc2100 r8500le)

more importantly, his videocard gives him a bunch of visual artififacts. i said its because of the overclocking, despite OCZ putting their fancy memory coolers and heatsink and whatnot on the board... i put on coolbits for him and downclocked the card to Ti4200 speeds and he is still experiencing visual artifacts. o well.

@KristopherKubicki- I for one would like to see Mushkin as one of the considered memory vendors.

Ordered from them a few times, and so have a bunch of people I've recommended them to, and I've always had a very positive experience.

I know this doesn't help you with your OCZ decision, but I couldn't see Mushkin being left out. Maybe they don't have quite the high-end stuff as Corsair does right now, but they were of the first to offer PC2700 CAS222.

Also their DDR Mainboard Qualification's show that they do care about providing stability and compatibility to the DIY crowd.

That's all well and good, the product is sound, but I think what's keeping them out realistically is the fact that they charge like 2x more than most vendors for their memory...

I bought a stick of OCZ PC3000 256MB around May. Good price and performed as expected. I also bought other stuff from them in the past and have been overall satisfied. My overall experiences have been positive, but with everything I am reading I would be skeptical to order again.

kreno- I don't agree that their 2x as much, but maybe you were using that as a figure of speach.

I will agree that they usually do cost more than the competition, but not much more. Mushkin basic PC2700 is $9 more than Crucial PC2700. Not much of a difference, but extra money none the less.

What seems to be the best deal right now is the Corsair XMS stuff. Mushkin just can't touch them, as neither can anyone else.

All I was saying is that not at least adding Mushkin to the roundup of RAM to choose from isn't fair IMHO, since Mushkin have proved themselves to produce quality product and provide great service. Their prices, while a bit on the high side, are in line with what the market is at (I looked at 256MB modules, maybe I'm wrong elsewhere). Being that their product is RAM, I felt it germane to this thread (and since KristopherKubicki said he'd hadn't heard anyone else ask about them).

Just to be clear: If I had to buy right now, Corsair XMS would be top on my list. However, I'd still check out what Mushkin and Crucial were offering before buying, as all three offer great product and service, all at very good prices.
