Octane boosters? does it really work?

According to Chevron/Texaco and Exxon/Mobil, their gasoline will last for one year without additives before it starts to cause problems. I routinely store my 914 for nine months with no more thought to the gasoline than to have the tank full to prevent condensation and there's never been a problem.

Hmm, I bought some gas for my lawnmower and put in some additive that came with the lawnmower, which when added to the gas, supposedly allows it to be stored for much longer. I wonder if it works well or not? I predict it will take a good year to go through the gallon jug of gasoline...

No. ROZ 91 Octane is [(RON+MON)/2] 87 octane roughly speaking. ROZ is typically 5 points higher than the equivalent [(RON+MON)/2] rating. 98 ROZ should be about 93 [(RON+MON)/2]. I'm betting that his engine requires 98 ROZ and that he has already converted it to 93 [(RON+MON)/2] since 93 is NOT a typical ROZ rating if I am remembering right.

In Romania all the fuel you can find is leaded or unleaded, at 98 and 95 Octane. No way you could find anything else (except, of course, for diesel fuel).
And the 95 fuel can be used for compression ratio of up to 9.5, the 98 octane for compression ratio greater than that.

thanks for all the replies! right now i have a full stand alone fuel controller with ECU by apex which is called the Power FC. I also have the optional LCD commander unit which displays 10 real time engine sensors such as

Engine RPM
Ignition Timing
Vehicle Speed
Air Flow Voltage (Pressure Sensor Voltage)
Injector Duty Cycle
Boost
Knocking Level
Battery Voltage
Intake Air Temp
Water Temp

Since i've added a boost controller and im running @ 12 psi as opposed to 7psi my knock sensors are going crazy. I think its time for me to mix race gas with regular gas until i can get my Power/FC ECU tuned.
