OCD with LCD

TridenT

What the hell do I use to make my LCD clean? Give me suggestions, I want there to be nothing on it.. No marks, no gray marks from cleaning it... Eetttcccc

This shit pisses me off. I hate LCDs for this reason. Impossible to clean, and then they get dirty somehow again. ( I never touched the thing and now it has marks on it?)

My coworkers have yet to realize they are risking a horrible death each time they touch my monitor at work to point out something.

I think my arm is about to fall off from trying to fucking clean this thing. No matter how many times I go over it with this "microfiber" cloth with no-water or little amounts of water, there are always marks. Like... wtf.

LOL, my boss has done that to me a couple times. For some reason he thinks he has to put his greasy fingers on the monitor.

Are you trying to dust it? 😕 Just go buy some LCD cleaner. Don't use normal windex or you'll deteriorate the coating on it.

FYI, LCD cleaner contains Isopropyl alcohol.

Are you sure its Isopropyl? I just read that "Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol" is not actually Isopropyl. Double-check. If it is Isopropyl, mix it 50/50 with filtered water, and clean! 🙂

Looking at bottle right now it says: "99% ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL" 99% Isoproprly alcohol by volume. Does not contain, nor is intended as a substitute for grain or ethyl alcohol.

I will do google searches before I apply this shit to my screen.. I rather not risk, "OMG WTF IS WORNG WITH MEH SCRENE!!!111"

He meant in the LCD cleaning solution.

According to teh intarwebs, "LCD Cleaning Solution" is 50% isopropyl(rubbing) alcohol and 50% water.

Get the 92% stuff and just mix it half and half with distilled water.

I was asking this question myself last week when I had this patch of grease that seemed to spread rather than go away with wiping on my new 22" glossy. I purchased the Klear Screen (iKlear is the same, just marketed towards Apple produce users) and used it on my screen. It works pretty well and got rid of the grease I couldn't get off earlier.

After the initial cleaning with the microchamois cloth that came with it, I noticed that there were still streaks, which seemed to become visible once the solution dried. You can get rid of these streaks by polishing the screen some more with a microfiber cloth without adding any more solution.
