Well this little combo is not to bad of a deal, the mobo does have fsb adjustment from 166 to 199, no voltage adjustment. I was pleasantly surprised to run it all the way up to 195fsb with no voltage adjustment so 1500mhz default and 1755mhz OC (Sempron2500 speed) Nice combo for $50.00😀

wouldnt your pci/agp be running wayy out of spec? at 195 your pci/agp would be 39/78 😱 (i wouldn't go outside 35 for pci, and that's fine for agp 😛)

In Chicago, they didn't get the Semprons so they substituted an AthlonXP 2200+ (Thorton Core) and the motherboard they game me is a strange one.

It's a PC Chips KT266A Northbridge and a more current southbridge.

It was cheep, It's quick, It works, It's got USB2. That's good enough for $50

last day for this today (8/24). agreed with poster above. The only caveat would be reliability of an ECS board - some believe them to be short lived. peace

I think your right, I haven't beeen much into overclocking lately and was thinking it would just lock if I went to high but it ran great all the way up to 195fsb. Seems like I ran my pci as high as 37/38 on my old bh6 when pushing 150fsb without any trouble

it's back this week, at least in houston....

does anyone know how these compare to the duron 1.6? if they are comparable, i might pick one of these sempron combos up.

um, the details are above.

duron 1.6 ghz has 64kb l2, 266mhz fsb
sempron 2200+ is 1.5ghz, 256mb l2, 333mhz fsb

the sempron 2200+ is easily faster than the duron 1.6ghz.

Same here, never had a problem using these budget combos for what they are made for, budget computing.

San diego deal is the athalon 2800+ boxed cpu with fan with 3 yr warranty. The MB is a nvidia 2 ultra 400 chipset w dual channel support. for $99.99 Also a hot deal just a more upscale hot deal it seems. I'll wait here for a report on the actual motherboard model.
PS 160 gig ultradma 133 retail box HD 7200rpm 8meg buffer for $70 and 512meg pc3200 corsair mem for $60 after $20 rebate

LOL... KB MB 😉 never type replies early in the morning.

Just got back from the Fountain Valley, CA fry's and they are offering the ECS K7VTA3 with this deal. The receipt said PC Chips, but then it states it's the ECS board. Must be PC Chips board for some locations.

Also picked up the Corsair 512mb pc3200 for $59 AR & the 52x BTC cdrw for $19.99 no rebate

since the sempron line has PR ratings towards the value segment (e.g. AXP 2200+ != Sempron 2200+),
it would be comparable to a "duron 2.2ghz" or celeron 2.2ghz i suppose

256MB L2 would be pretty darn slow... :/
I also got in on the Chicago Fry's deal (AXP 2200+ with M811LU board). I don't really plan on using the board- I mainly got it for the 2200+ which costs more than $49.99 new 🙂

Anyone that is going to the store this weekend, could you please pick up a

AMD Sempron 2200+ with motherboard $49.99 combo for me? I will gladly pay for the shipping and other expenses.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. Please pm me if you would help me out

"Call for Availability " means OOS, plus then u have no chance of getting a non-ECS board
but atleast no tax if there's no fry's in your state

Has anyone tried overclocking this Sempron 2200 in a mobo that can go over 200fsb? The ECS board that it comes with stops at 199fsb

I don't know if everyone got the same ECS board with that deal. I know at the Fry's in Renton i recvd the K7VTA3 Ver_6.0 which must have been in the first run. I had a heckofa time flashing the bios but got it to latest from July2004.

According to the specs that I've found including this on at http://www.firingsquad.com/pro...ct.asp/1845?viewdesc=1 , the FSB should handle 300. As for the CPU being reported the best my POST shows so far has been 900Mhz Sempron.

So what did you do??, did you change any of the jumpers?
