Bah, you draw characters from the inside out. Of course the textures will be there.
I have no idea what this means. You might just as profitably have stated: "Hondas are reliable. Of course the moon is round."

The funny thing about this is that Walmart won't sell a game with an undeserved rating and yet on the video aisle 10 feet away, they have multiple "Unrated" and "Uncensored" movies available...Originally posted by: Sonikku
OMG, cg boobies! :Q
I walked into Wal Mart today and discovered that they're no longer selling Oblivion and will turn you down if you ask. Absurd, to be certain. On the 360 version obtaining said boobies is impossible, yet it still got the ax.![]()
My guess is that this double standard stems from the fact that people who make these decisions are still older than the information age and widespread use of computers in general. In their minds the word "game" = kids, so they are over protective. What they don't realize is that there are millions of 20 somethings (and now even 30 somethings, like myself) that play these games. They do not realize that the internet and gaming has replaced prime time TV for many people. Personally, I DVR two TV shows a week and watch those with my wife. The rest of the time, when others are watching American Idol or some other "reality" crap, I play games, surf the web, or argue with you guys about video cards.Originally posted by: Thraxen

I've always hated that double standard. The exact same thought occurred to me when Best Buy refused to carry the re-rated "AO" version of GTA:SA last year. The section right next the games is loaded with "unrated" and "uncencored" DVDs... which everyone knows is synonymous with "sex" and "nudity". But no one throws a fit about those. Imagine if the game industry tried to do the same thing and release "unrated" versions of games. LOL... congress would be involved again. What a crock of $#&%!
Somewhat, thanks. I do see what you're saying. My contention was that the meshes/skins/textures, whatever they are considered at that level, exist because they are meant to have different things attached. Like the bra attaches to the torso. Or the shirt attaches to the torso. Becaus it could be different things, the basic model has to exist somewhere.Originally posted by: Markbnj
I'm sorry for not being clear enough. Let me be more specific: no, you don't "draw characters from the inside out." That's completely meaningless. The only thing that ever gets rendered to screen are the texture pixels. The model to which the texture is mapped is a mathematical construct. Second, and I'll put this in the form of a question: what does how the character is drawn have to do with whether the textures are an original component of the game binaries, or something that was modded in later? Answer: nothing.
Hopefully that alleviates your confusion over my response.

Actually Markbenj I would say Final Fantasy is more to blame for the mislabeling of RPGs than any other game. At least imo.
RPG stands for ROLE (Not Roll) playing game. FF is not a RPG, its a Adventure game with maybe some elements that RPGs usually have. (Dont get me wrong I enjoyed some FF games, but that does not make them RPGs).
So in a true Role playing sense, no game has been as true to the Role playing genre as Morrowind and now Oblivion imo. You can truly take on your own role and do what you want pretty much, or for that matter dont want. Does this mean its perfect? Far from it, but closer than most any other game has come.
