Are you being intentionally obtuse?

People use the price of healthy food as justification for being a fat ass. You can eat calorie-dense food and negate the effects of it by exercising.

Exercising is free.

i use the ease of preparation excuse. not because i'm lazy, i spend an hour in the gym every day. i just hate cooking. if i had a cook, i'd eat much healthier.

"The report was financed by one of the manufacturers of gastric banding, a type of obesity surgery."

Apparently I'm the only one who read this part...

LOL, yeah I saw that. It wasn't a surprise after I read they actually took time to factor in the extra gas cost of hauling a fat ass around. I mean, that can't possibly add up to that much.

16oz of lays classic potato chips = 2400 calories, 160g fat.
16oz of lays baked potato chips = 1920 calories, 32g fat.

16oz baked potato = 417 calories, 1g fat.

but are you going to eat that baked potato plain? no butter or anything?

"The numbers are in line with other research and are not surprising, said Dr. Kevin Schulman, a professor of medicine and health economist at Duke University who wasn't involved in the new report."

I won't, because i'm not fat, but a fat person could just as easily skip the sour cream, bacon, cheese, salt, and butter. But they won't, because they are lazy, have no self control, and like to think that it's not their fault.

Fat people don't even disgust me really. If you wanna be fat, then by all means, be fat, but I don't wanna hear and complaining and excuses. You're fat because you choose to be fat. End of story. No matter what your genetics are, what your finances are like, the real fact is that if you're fat you're eating too much. It's always possible to eat less. And I can guarantee if you cut back to 0 calories a day you would lose weight.

Healthy food costs less. You can eat for a month on $40 with beans and rice. How you think these Mexican day laborers survive with infrequent work and still sending money home.

lol yea ok try feeding 3 teenagers and two adults and get back to me on how inexpensive cooking/eating healthy is.

we have beans and rice and cornbread about once a week for dinner. and yes it cheap, but if we had that every night i would face a revolt.

That's just an excuse fat people use. You can eat healthy meals for incredible cheap. Fat people are just too lazy to cook.

Things like lean chicken breasts, oats, mixed greens, bananas, tuna, and endless other healthy foods can be had for much cheaper than processed foods like potato chips, easy mac, fast food, etc...

Chicken tits are bloody expensive. Easily the most expensive part of the bird, and more expensive than a whole chicken. It's also more expensive than pretty much all pork, and more expensive than a lot of beef too.

But yes, the rest of that stuff is dirt cheap and very good.

So, I'm certain that one statement validates the entire 'study' and renders it 'impartial and unbiased'.

It kind of does...

No it doesn't.

Look, I'm not disputing the premise of the 'study': fat people are a burden on EVERYTHING.
However, some of their extrapolations are far-fetched and the company funding it has a vested interest in making the numbers as large as possible.

a potato is about a calorie per gram. potatoes in a bag are ridiculously cheap by the pound. $0.25 per pound or so. potato chips are $3 or $4 per pound. potato chips are about 5x more calorie dense than potatoes. so potato calories are 1/2 or 1/3 the $ cost. of course you have to cook the potato but they're about the easiest thing to make.

why do you have to cook the potato

I bet there are a wide variety of categories besides being fat that plenty of the people in this thread full under that cost employers money.

Not me.

Well I guess I'm a ginger, so that probably lowers office moral, and costs productivity. But we gingers are a proud race.

except, that they die earlier so lifelong costs probably a lot less

This is true for the health care system in general, but not necessarily for employers.

Think about it: healthy people who eat well, exercise and live to 95 but suffer debilitating, costly cancer in their final years were very healthy and productive all throughout their careers. They probably took very few sick days.

Their health doesn't decline until well into retirement, at which point they're not impacting their employer any longer.

Obese people, OTOH, get sick more often and miss work. The actual cost though, is debatable, and can't be determined just from this study.

These threads are awesome..

You can always find the fatties in these threads with relative ease.

"health food costs too much" - IM A FATTY

"other people cost employers money too!" - WAH IM A FATTY

My point was that the circle jerk that is going on here is hypocritical. Are you disagreeing?

Once again fatties prove to be a burden on society. Not only do their co-workers have to see them, they also cost the company money. Do you keep piles of stinking garbage around your house? No. You put it in a bag, throw the bag in a garbage can and keep it outside, out of sight and smell. That's how fatties should be handled in the workplace. Out of sight, out of smell. Everyone knows this.

You have an extremely unhealthy obsession with other people's weight, have you seen a professional about your mental issues?
No, I think he is just an ass who love to spread the hate.
I don't know why moderators tolerate this shit.
