I don't plan on drawing this out. I'll concede its debatable that Obama at the start of his term had more experience than Trump currently does. I don't agree but I can accept that as a debatable point. He was speaking today, which means he has more experience than Trump.

Yes yes, god forbid you work together to solve problems, it's much more better (and constructive as we can see) to simply refer to them in third person when making stupid speeches to blind sheep that are headed to the slaughter house.

Obama tried to build bridges but gave up. I do agree its a big part of his job to do so. I also have to say he has faced an unprecedented amount of resistance including this bat shit insane birther stuff. He threw a major olive branch with the $10 in spending cuts for $1 in new taxes (or was it $8 to $1 I've forgot), even sweetened the deal with cpi changes that Republicans wanted. They flat out turned their backs. I understand Obama's frustration and I agree he should have made another attempt at building consensus.

I wouldn't say Trump has more now than Obama did at the beginning either. What Obama has now is completely irrelevant. Although, he's been a complete disaster gaining that experience, wouldn't you agree?

Nope admittedly his Syria strategy is vague at best but honestly I've yet to hear a good Syria strategy. Obama has kept troops out. We haven't sent mass amounts if troops to Iraq after Iraq kicked us out. Obama told Iraq to put their big boy pants on and get their shit together. We're not going to enable more troop retreats and fight ISIS for them. We're not sucking on Israel's schlong any more and we are drawing down from the zero gain middle east which is a big plus to me.

A disaster as compared to, say, the invasion of Iraq? The installation of the utterly corrupt Karzai regime in Kabul? Pushing Iran towards nuclear weapons development? Provoking the DPRK into resuming their own?
 
It's not Trump's experience in foreign policy that scares me, it's what he says that scares me.

Part of me would be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's dumbing things down for his constituents, if only there was any policy that wasn't basically "I'm going to force this with no details how, but it's going to be great."

He's going to destroy ISIS, make Iran capitulate, end treaties, let Asia go nuclear - all without any risk to American troops. If anyone came to my workplace with such asinine solutions without any detail, they'd be laughed out of the building. Yet here we are.

I really don't care what media propaganda you see that defends him. No matter what "amount of resistance" you deem to have occurred, never once have you read a story where he tries to confront said resistance by.... I don't know... TALKING IT OUT? I know, fucking crazy right? I work in the business world, every problem has a solution and we always find what that is when we bring in all the parties involved and discuss openly. That is not happening under this presidency. Is it any surprise that progress is lacking?

Until you see him and the main people of congress in a conference room for 2+ days of talking, resolving issues, and proposing ideas... It's fucking useless. It's blowing smoke. It's trying to prop up fucking retarded consumers trying to act as if the problem is THEM not ME. It's simply downright pathetic to see a POTUS stoop to this level.

Again I may be wrong but wasn't Obama staying in the WH office late waiting for John Boehner to meet him in that first attempted budget compromise. Not to forget the fact that Republicans got 90% of what they wanted but were afraid to break the no new taxes pledge.

What you are saying is either totally naive or self serving. Do you actually think that a lack of time spent negotiating is what the issue was? Seriously?

The issue was very, very simple. Republicans feared losing their seats in primary elections, not general elections. The Republican primary electorate viewed compromise with Obama as akin to treason. Therefore, little to no compromise with Obama.

Instead of talking in general terms, can you name one specific, at least reasonably major area where you believe compromise was possible where Obama failed to act/talk it out/whatever?
