Obama's Legacy

Lots to choice from. But if Hillary is not indicted, this will be his legacy... Crime Pays! I occasionally listen to NPR and watch the Clinton News Network, and inevitably when things are slow, talk seems to center around Obama's legacy. He's back into the corner now. Kill the Dems chances for the next president to be elected, or let Ms Capone and Lefty off the hook.

I remember Nixon. The ironic part is that he went down because the Republicans stood up for decency. From what I've seen in the last 25 years, ethics are only talked about as though they really existed. The old school politicians said that Bill Clinton would not be allowed to run the US government the way he ran Arkansas. But the Dem party folded like a cheap suit, and became bots who could be ordered around or bought and sold.

After all the crap Dubya and Cheney and Co. got away with, give it a break already.

And they had a mandate basically at the time and stepped on their cranks in the name of profits.

Nixon got caught with his hands in the cookie jar, it's pretty much became a lesson in what not to do att.

Stood up for decency 😛

Deflect, deflect, deflect. (Mom the other kids are jumping off a bridge, why can't I!)

Start a W topic about his legacy, if you want. You are off-topic here.

Where did I deflect anything ?

You started off with Obama and veered off to Nixon in your original post.

You're either being intentionally difficult, or you are more than a tad slow. This is an Obama legacy thread and whether it will be dragged down by the Clintons. Your response had nothing to do with that. Try reading the link.

Off to other things.

This thread strikes me as something that would be posted by a person with a Conservative brain defect.

Your selective indignation is very predictable, duly noted, and dismissed... I know you aren't embarrassed but you should be.

Given that Obama abdicated foreign policy to Hillary Clinton, and both Russia and the Middle East went to !@#$ on them.... yes, the Clintons forever stained his blue dress legacy.
Domestically he's solid though.

Domestically, working to rescue the economy from the crapper the conservatives sent it to (like they do every time they get power). Foreign affairs: the utter incompetence of Obama's Libya policy (not Benghazi but the overall policy) will be the gift that keeps giving. Qaddafi may have been a violent crank but it turns out that he had his finger in the dike. Removing Qaddafi unleashed a northward moving flood of refugees and a southward moving stream of Wahhabi nutjobs.

Domestically: Deftly normalizing civil rights for LGBTQ (hell, just add the whole dang alphabet) is a significant achievement. Obviously, he didn't do it alone but he did play a large role.

I'd add the odd mix of success in domestic stuff coupled with attacking whistleblowers and expanding the NSA.

Democrats rely on economic stability to stay in office, whereas Republicans rely on starting wars, keeping them going WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY CUTTING TAXES FOR THE RICH (wut?), keeping their base riled up with hate and fear propaganda and always, I mean ALWAYS pointing a finger at the Dems as the hated party of the heathen Gay lovers and baby killers. This to divert the attention of their base away from the singular mission that their party leaders and legislators are tasked with: take care of the rich and fuck everybody else, including those misled common folks that voted them into office.

So congrats to both Obama and the Repubs in Congress, for they all succeeded in what they needed to do to keep their jobs.

Obama's legacy will be saving the country from economic collapse, helping push the nation towards equality in marriage, showing the world how unbelievably racist American conservative still are simply because he's a black President, showing America that conservatives would rather let the country literally burn to the ground than let a liberal succeed.

There were no good choices in Libya. If we do nothing, thousands get massacred and the country continues to devolve into Syria-like civil war and you still have Gaddafi in charge.

It's not like intervening in Libya was the start of the mess.

Make up your mind. Is it because he's black or because hes liberal?
Let's ask Hillary if it's about race...

Obama's Legacy = Disappointing yet somehow still less bad than his predecessor and successor alike.

Little harsh, don't you think?

I actually don't understand much of the hate for Hillary. I understand she's status quo, but whatever. I'm all for a woman president. I think that alone will be a good thing.

...I say, as I try and keep the city from being able to randomly inspect my tenants homes simply because they rent...

It does not devolve into a "Syria-like civil war" if you don't create the opposing faction yourself.

Military crackdowns with "thousands massacred" or ISIS genocide of thousands... think deposing governments and sowing anarchy is an improvement? You're not saving anybody. The "good choice" is stability. And if the price of that stability is thousands of lives, it's still a better choice than ISIS.

Russia stepped into Syria and showed you how to fight a war.
