ObamaCare success... Not!

Looks like she was fooled. I also think a lot more will end up wanting to eat their words before it is all over. She wrote Obama saying how great it was as she hasn't had Insurance for 15 years because she could not afford it. Guess what? She still can't.

Article: http://www.examiner.com/article/wom...r-obamacare-success-finds-she-can-t-afford-it

As more consumers lose their health care coverage because of Obamacare, a woman from Washington State, quoted by President Obama as a success, finds out that her support for Obamacare falls short, as she cannot afford the Obamacare insurance plans after all, the Washington State Wire reported on Monday.

Erik Smith of the Washington State Wire said that Jessica Sanford, whose letter was quoted by President Obama in October as a sign of success of his Affordable Care Act health care plan, now finds out that she cannot afford the health plans and much to her surprise, does not qualify for a tax credit either.

When Stanford decided to go back and choose another plan, it lowered her tax credit to $110.

However, not long after that, she received word from the state that it had erred again and this time, she was entitled to no tax credit.
A household with one adult and one child with a $50K annual income gets the tax credit.

OK, in the original source article it says the woman's son qualifies for Medicaid for a $30 a month premium and she loses her subsidy. It looks like doing that and getting a plan for herself or getting one for both of them is a wash at about $400 a month for either option. And she was getting rate quotes of $500-$600 prior to the ACA.

I wonder how many others there are in the same boat.

I know many of my neighbors have said even though they can afford the higher premiums ($100 - $250 a month) it will result in less money they can spend on other things. If there are many like them, how long will take for this to hurt the economy?

Sanford reiterated her frustration in a post to the Washington HealthPlanFinder's Facebook page last Friday.

"Wow. You guys really screwed me over," Sanford wrote. "Now I have been priced out and will not be able to afford the plans you offer. But, I get to pay $95 and up for not having health insurance. I am so incredibly disappointed and saddened. You majorly screwed up."

Voted for Obama twice.

Disappointed that Obamacare will not subsidize her health insurance. Further disappointed that, under Obamacare, she not only will not get insurance but will have to pay a fine for not having insurance.

She trusted the government.

Something went wrong.

Who'da thunk it?

Obviously the government is the answer to healthcare. They've done such a tremendous job with the ACA implementation, I can't imagine NOT giving them COMPLETE control of the healthcare system.

The affordable care act was designed to do one thing, and that is to milk the public for every penny the insurance companies can get.

Before long there is not going to be anything left.

As for the opening post, all I have to say is "sucker!!!!!" lololol. 🙂 People wanted change, they got change, I hope they are happy. Because all they are going to be left with is spare change.

Voted for Obama twice.

And she says the government screwed up, typical liberal democrat response.

The lady needs to take responsibility for her actions. She voted for change, and she got exactly what she voted for.

It won't take long. Or people en masse are gonna say 'screw it' and not bother getting health insurance. Gotta love a government that deliberately set about to destroy what worked reasonably well for the majority of the country.

Reality is starting to hit the fan. I hate to see so many people get screwed over by this horrible legislation. Repeal is inevitable as negative public opinion escalates. I hope we have some very competent people working on an exit strategy.

You are correct. Prior to the implementation of Obamacare, surveys showed that more than 80% of the population liked their health care. The commonly cited issue, increasing costs, was not addressed by ACA. And what have we gotten so far?

1. A full and total display of the government's incredible incompetence. Even the usual big government cheerleaders have given up trying to spin their efforts into a positive. A web site which could've been easily implemented by the likes of Salesforce or Amazon in half the time and a fraction of the cost was an incredible failure because it was granted to a company where Michelle Obama's pal was an executive.

But hey, the usual left-leaning spinsters here will probably still insist that a government-run healthcare system (aka single payer) is the way to go and that the government could run it very well. Yeah, their track record is great!

2. Millions dropped from health plans they did like, despite Obama's promise that anyone who liked their plans could keep them.

3. And now, we have Obama voters whining about ACA. I'm sure many of these folks expected "FREE HEALTHCARE!!!!11!!!!11!!!1!!!!!" All I have to say is: You voted for him so you asked for it. I hope it is PAINFUL.

The government solution to that is obvious. Single payer is next.

There will not be a government solution.

You think wall street is going to let a billion dollar industry take a hit?

This is wall street vs the people. And the government is on the side of big business.

Wish I could share your optimism on repeal, but I doubt it will happen. I could easily be wrong, but I can't think of any program of this magnitude that has been repealed once it's gone into effect. Repeal would only have a chance of happening if there was a massive rep victory in the senate next year. In spite of undeniable proof that Obama lied repeatedly, that his staff knew all along that this mess was going to happen, and the blatant corruption wrt the botched abortion of a website, there are still over 40% of the people that consider him 'honest' 🙁 And the bumbling 'stupid party' will find a way of screwing up next fall's elections, so yeah, not holding out hope.

Saw this story on CNN.

"What the hell? Why is it the same story as the federal government?" Sanford says in disgust with the Washington state exchange. "They didn't have it ready."
"They screwed up," she added.

Just from those short sentences, how many times she blamed someone else? You voted for it twice, smiled and brag about it, now open wide and take it deep.

What's the old saying of "be careful what you wish for, you might get it"? You get it alright, a big expensive bill.

This is just the beginning. Public opinion is going South in a big hurry as they begin to understand what happened and how's it's going to personally affect them.

I agree. However, I'm very jaded in my opinion of the average American sheep. I truly hope that this is the kick in the balls that the American people need to finally get them enraged at what our government is doing to them. Only time will tell.

If people truly want "healthcare" as a right, then they will eventually envelop it in a program similar to social security.

Obama's protracted honeymoon is now officially over...the media is turning. Even if they get the site working reasonably well in the next few weeks, it looks to me like Obamacare is going to be the 'gift that keeps giving' to Republicans the next several years.

"we have to pass the [health care] bill so that you can find out what's in it" 😀

Obama, Nancy and Harry did a mistake, they counted to private market place to deliver their promise. The govt needs to take the healthcare over and be the single healthcare provided. True, millions will loose their jobs but they now will have insurance and govt can provide food to the unemployed by nationalizing the insurance companies for years to come.

In a sane world, yes. I pray for sanity
