In terms of cost sharing it has Americans in the bottom 3/10's and 4/10's carrying the heaviest burden for those in the bottom 1/10th's and 2/10th's. We don't have any money to spare, I promise.

Should've cut my hours huh? How dare I try and actually pocket some extra money while I was between jobs.

For those decently well off and older, the ACA has a pretty negligible impact. Like... the people I'm perpetually arguing with who are incapable of putting themselves in other peoples shoes. Quite the swing between benefit/burden between that 2/10's and 3/10's percentile of income bracket eh? Some of the older republicans who post here have earned major kudos points in my book for seeing it a mile away and complaining even though they may have even benefited personally a little.

Some questions.
- Are these exchange plans compared to similar plans before ACA, or compared to less comprehensive plans?
- Are tax subsidies included in the comparison?

Most people already have insurance coverage that will be left largely unaffected by reform. Those who gain subsidized insurance will see bigger percentage gains in their income.

Um yes? I earned a $0 subsidy at $30k. Its actually more of an insult the website is so broken to be honest. The $210 came out of my account already. Up from $150. Those figures are real.

But some people, particularly young men who aren't insured through their employers, could see their premiums go up once coverage in the state-based insurance exchanges begins in January.

Oh mememememe! This is me! Remember you could extend your plan into 2014. I saved a ton by doing so. This is the first year the "loosers" of the ACA have been forced to participate, or pay the fine. Hooray! 7 Days was enough for me I'm already going to be canceling by February.

That income chart looks reasonable to me. Reason the 30% and 40% brackets get hit so hard is that tapering the subsidies beyond that point costs too much relative to the subsidies to be practical. It's worth remembering though that these brackets are not homogeneous. A single parent with several kids will be left better off, whereas a single person in these brackets will get hit hard.

My biggest complaint financially isn't the increased burden, it's the proggies insisting I'm better off. Nobody that stupid or dishonest should engage me, ever.
