I was already informed by the lefties in here that wanting Americans to speak English was racist.

It's not that. The effective way I believe this policy works is either English is required or Bilingual is required. Employers will want employees who can work together.

Feds force Spanish on employers, employers force it on us. They will pass down the requirement from the Feds in order to maintain a cohesive work environment.

The reports I have seen show central and south American families sending their children into the U.S, as they expect what's his face, Barrack Obama, to make them mighty heroes.

I cannot believe there are manufacturing jobs where the ability to speak the language is "not needed to perform their jobs". I suspect this should add "as long as the company hires someone to tell them their job responsibilities in their own native language."

If we are now going to include the lack of ability to speak English as a protected civil right, then we're even more fucked than I thought.

The issue is not that they could not speak English at all. It's that for a period of time these employees were considered to be ok with the limited English that they had. This was documented with performance reports that showed them to be considered satisfactory employees.

Then, suddenly, based on a single 10 minute examination of some kind they were considered to be incapable of doing the jobs that they had been doing up to that point, to the company's apparent satisfaction, and were fired.

You don't see anything wrong with that picture?

Bottom line, their English was good enough until suddenly it wasn't. That's an actual fact. To me, that seems worth investigating by the agency that exists to investigate situations like this.

And I *love* the "not surprisingly" comment. You just have to fit everything into a neat little "us and them" scenario.

Care to explain why it's "not surprising" to you? Just what is it that I've ever expressed here to make you write that?

One of the best HAAS CNC programmers we had at the company I'm currently with was Vietnamese and spoke very broken English.

I liked him a lot, he came up for review and they wouldn't give him a raise and he left and found a better job. I miss that guy a bit, GOOOO THAI!

Is a bit the other end of the spectrum, but employers can do some silly at their whim type of things way too often.

They newly Dubya appointed Supreme Court for life justices rearing their heads and making business's not only have rights, but can legally apply them to religious affiliation pisses me off more than anything.

The bullshit will be stacking up real fast at this rate.

The Dubya is now coming into full later power atm, The Supreme Court is now not only saying Corporations are people, now they can impose Religious beliefs on the workers, etc.

GO GO GOP assholes.

You think not buying something for someone equals imposing religious beliefs on them?

If so, then atheists are seriously restricting my First Amendment rights 'cause they ain't buying me shit. Damn it, I'm entitled!

Dubya, appointed John Roberts, and he is a flake and a half.

What's truly scary is that Obama gets to appoint anyone.

Ruth Ginsberg, and other aging Supreme court members may be trying to ride it out.

We should support them, as giving Obama nomination power would be horrendous for this country.

why side step Congress about this w/an executive order?
I would have thought the GOP would fall over themselves to back this?!

Such a bill also needs Democrat support in order to pass the Senate.

Are your thoughts based on actual information, or partisan hackery?

Don't think Reid would be a problem. He knows that if given the power, the chance that Obama would use that power to do the very opposite of what he's been doing is truly miniscule.

This will be like the IRS scandal, a lot of bloviating until after the November elections followed by an absolute insistence that this is how the system should operate. The vast majority of these illegals are here to stay and will in fact be signed up for multiple government programs even as the Dems are insisting they will be returned.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration is initiating a program to give refugee status to some young people from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador in response to the influx of unaccompanied minors arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Under the program, immigrants from those countries who are lawfully in the United States will be able to request that child relatives still in those three countries be resettled in the United States as refugees. The program would establish in-country processing to screen the young people to determine if they qualify to join relatives in the U.S.

In a memorandum to the State Department Tuesday, President Barack Obama allocated 4,000 slots for refugees from Latin America and the Caribbean for next year. The number is a fraction of the number of children who have already crossed the border into the United States and are awaiting deportation proceedings.

The program would not provide a path for minors to join relatives illegally in the United States, and would not apply to minors who have entered the country illegally.

Instead, it aims to set up an orderly alternative for dealing with young people who otherwise might embark on a dangerous journey to join their families in the United States.

The program is not likely to stop other minors or migrant families from seeking to cross the border.

Last month, Border Patrol agents apprehended 3,129 young people, mostly from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Since the start of the budget year in October, more than 66,000 unaccompanied children have apprehended crossing the border illegally, nearly double the number from the 2013 budget year.

That number has been declining but remains a worry for the administration as Obama considers ways to remove the threat of deportation and grant work permits potentially to several million immigrants already illegally in the U.S.

Under the plan, the U.S. would process refugee requests for youths in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Similar in-country screening programs were set up in East Asia after the Vietnam War and in Haiti in the 1990s.
Note the bolded - Obama isn't content with the illegals we now have, he's actually setting up an initiative to bring in more. Join with me as we fundamentally transform America - into Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

Be a minor, knock on the gates of the embassy/consulate and get a ticket to ride.

Does it apply to those that have legal or illegal relatives in the US.

4000 refugees, that's barely enough to stop a few drops of blood from bleeding leftist hearts. Need MORE! Sure, the boston bombers were refugees and got their green cards ASAP but there's so many poor and downtrodden to save!

In the meantime, a friend I know from China has been in this country working for one of the top 5 tech firms for 7 years now, and still hasn't gotten his green card because he's chinese and their quota is up. His wife can't work because he doesn't have a green card, even though she's got an MS degree, speaks great English, and is one of the nicest people around, and has recruiters messaging her on linkedin. She's got a degree from the US too, and because the visa quota is FUBARed, full of fraud and waste, she can't get one to work. They're holding off on having a baby till they get this resolved. Can't resort to any public assistance whatsoever, including in-state tuition if she goes to school full time.

But hey, he makes too much money, so fuck him right? To get the liberals attention, he's supposed to be throwing his papers away, unlearning his english, and working in some slum and participating in jingoistically charged protests. And oh, churn a few babies out on taxpayer dime and send them to school in the meantime. Insurance? DL? who cares for all that. Basically, throw away everything that made you successful, break all the laws and brazenly demand things.. and then Obama and his ilk will be rushing over pulling at all stops trying to save you.

a disgusting state of affairs.

The people that support the sellout of US Citizens, aka supporting the illegal invasion aka Open Borders, would just "compromise" to fix this issue and say we'll fix that if we get Open Borders (or a joke of a border policy that effectively results in Open Borders). So this could get fixed, if only we could "compromise" with them...

Given what Reagan and Bush did via granting amnesty to millions of illegals, and given what Romney said about handling the immigration problem, I can't see how this is exclusively a problem that "liberals" deal/dealt with by "keeping the borders open".

Slam away about how Obama singularly created this mess with immigration policy, but it needs to be made clear that his Republican predecessors made things a lot "worse" for Obama by their own actions in this regard.

What mess? This country is immigrants. The funny part is now you are the "native" americans, and the rest of us are here to put you on reservations (aka GOP voting blocks).

Your friends probably need better immigration lawyers representing him. With regards to your friend waiting for his green card, I'm not sure what the hold up is but I have multiple friends who have received their green cards while working here through an H-1B visa. Most received their green cards around 6 years, so maybe this will be his year. Just in case you were wondering, most of these friends are Chinese.

With regards to your friend's wife, has she not applied for positions where the employers are willing to sponsor her for an H-1B visa? The current cap is 65,000 with 20,000 additional visas for people with an MS degree or higher. Anyways, I empathize with your friends' pain and the inherent inequity of allowing people to skip to the front of the line with respect to immigration purely out of proximity to the US's borders. I've only handled a few immigration cases, but generally it's a speed game when dealing with H-1B visas. Just have to be one of the earlier applicants with a flawless application.

Do you have any clue how our government works? Do you have any idea where the money would come from to "seal" the border (whatever the fuck that means)? Do you know who is responsible for telling the president what to spend money on?

Amnesty is an issue that would return this nation to a civil war? Just like it did in the 80's right? Just like it did in (pick anytime in our history)? The only people thinking that are old white guys with a small penis syndrome. Now go play around with your guns and see how long it takes you and buds to cause an accident.

Old white guys? Keep playing that tune....it's not working. There are young white guys too and we're gonna keep on having babies and teaching our children about our history, our constitution, our flag and about guns. Fuck you asshole! You ready to lose in the midterms motherfucker.......well are you? I'm a patriot. I will fight people like you until the end. You are an America hating fucktard!
