Sorry but I don't buy it, every year I've gone to the polling stations I've seen people from all walks of life and age. Why is it they can do what is required to vote?

Our "Governor" also wanted to eliminate 6 DMV facilities which would also make it harder to register but he backed down on that issue because he was maxing out the douchebag meter.
The best part of this radical change is that it is going to cost Wisconsin taxpayers 6 million to implement which is just another nail in his gubernatorial coffin.

Acquiring a state issued ID comes with a charge. Sure, $15 to you or I is not much but to someone who won't eat 4 meals because of that $15 it's A LOT. In addition acquiring an ID takes time. Those who are poor are overwhelmingly not lazy like the political right would like you to believe but are unskilled. As a result they have jobs that pay little and often have to work multiple just to get by, taking a day off to get an ID that they don't particularly need just to be able to vote, isn't worth the time it takes and money it would cost them.

And I know you claim you're not Republican, but pretty much every post you make aligns you dead on with the Republican party. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.

umm, how did they get that job in the first place if they didn't have any ID? How are they cashing that check from said job without ID?

Face it, there is no rational or logical reason why ID shouldn't be mandated other than democrats losing the illegal and dead vote. Oh, and the "i'm so fucking stupid I don't know how or can't get an ID" vote.

Blah, blah, blah, fuck that, do it right, or gtfo. Illegals are an insult to every single immigrant that came to this country following our laws, putting in the time, and money to be legal, and join everyone else in their quest for the American dream.

Unfortunately as much as it pains me to say, uber-troll, Macadamia Slime is right, politicians don't want to truly enforce our laws because business like their cheap labor. It would be really simple to minimize the problem, fine business that hire illegals, and completely cut off all social benefits to them, problem would deport itself.

You mean besides the threads where I bash Republican positions on abortion rights and gay marriage? I also can't stand pretty much every candidate there is currently running for president, they seem like a fine crop of religious nutjobs.

Good, the more wingnut fervor there is over illegals being treated like criminals instead of working with them to pay their fines and become citizens (as reasonable people want in their immigration legislation), the more likely the xenophobic crazies get swatted out of office.

I agree... everything require ID nowsday.... cashing check, buying M rated game, or a can of beer... having no ID other than forget or lost is pure bullshit.

I've been living on very little income for a long time now which has required me to live in less desireable neighborhoods from time to time. The poor here in Florida all have picture IDs and if someone becomes poor or unemployed they get a picture ID very quickly if they don't already have one. I've taken quite a few friends and neighbors to the DVM to obtain a new photo ID when they moved because a correct address is required to make the photo ID valid.

The reason the poor here in Florida have to have a photo ID is that you can't obtain any services without one. Every type of assistance, food stamps being the easy example, require a current photo ID with a current address.

the poor here are too busy loading up 50" TV's into the back of their Escalade EXT's on 22" spinners.
who has time to line up for hours at the DMV AND have to pay $15 for ID's.

The Rebublican party and conservatives don't believe in majority rule by the people.

In 1980, ALEC co-founder Paul Weyrich told a group of 15,000 conservative preachers in Dallas:
"Now many of our Christians have what I call the "goo goo" syndrome. Good Government. They want everybody to vote. I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people. They never have been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down."

This has been in the conservative/Republican playbook since 1980.
