Uh, what does securing the border have to do with "thugs roaming my neighborhood"? Harassing Americans? Keeping non-Americans out is harassing Americans?
The Border Patrol uses a defense in depth strategy which means BP patrols up to a hundred miles from the border and basically stops people at will to search their vehicles, detain Americans, and be general dickheads. They have cameras set up all over the place to keep an eye on us. I live in their self declared enforcement zone as do millions of other Amercans. People pretend to care about overreach of federal police powers everywhere but where it actually exists.

Something was accomplished. When unemployment was reported at 10.2% and we were in the worst economic slump since the great depression, Obama and the Democrats focused on jobs Healthcare reform. And it was healthcare reform that didn't kick in till years later.

You mean after passing one of the largest jobs bills in US history?

Oops.

I agree with you, I don't like that logic or process at all. Secure the border, use the military if you have to, but this "zone" of 100 miles from the border where you can ignore normal search and seizure restrictions, stop people for no reason etc is absurd. It's a complete overreach and just another way to get more federal power.

Of course, the "jobs" bill! Also, the patriot act was the most patriotic because it said so right there in the title.

definitey wasn't in the title. I will agree with you that it wasn't large enough and had too many tax cuts, but to say Obama didn't pay attention to the economy in lieu of health care legislation is factually false.

The senate passed a good bill, a great bill, with teeth, that both repubs and demos voted.
Google what the bill says. What the bill does.

The bill ""stops"" employers from hiring illegals.
The employer will no longer get away with hiring, paying under the table, getting cheap labor, and thus paying less than the federal minimum wage i.e. less than $7.25 an hour.

Plus, employers that hire illegals can and often do treat their illegal workers any way they want. Just like slave labor.
Why?
I mean... Who's gonna tell? Who's gonna gripe? Who's gonna give the bossman away?
That illegal employee?
haha hehe hoho chuckle chuckle snort snort ckuckle

What draws illegals here in the first place are the jobs. The money $$$
And until this bill came along, that FACT had never been addressed.
This bill passed by the senate finally addressed the hiring of illegals.
You do not need a big-ass fence if once across that illegal can no longer find work.
It's not called rocket science. It's called common old fashion horse sense.

And you know the sad part of all this?
The employers that do hire illegals for a cheap buck, to avoid the law, and more so to attract
illegals into this country in the first place, ARE ALL PROBABLY REPUBLICANS !!!!
Most likely....

This immigration bill, passed by the senate, would greatly hinder and stop the hiring of illegals, fine any business that tried to hire illegals, and I believe (I'd have to read the bill again) I believe create a system where any hire-ee would have to be verified as an legal American citizen.

Sooooooo.... Naturally republicans in the house are going to oppose this bill.
And place all the blame on Obama.

One day, America WILL wake up.
I only hope we all live to see that day....

PS. And thanks America for once again being true to your cause by voting STUPID!
And I still ask the question, will America survive STUPID ???
.
.

I'm not sure, registered Repub and that seems like a great bill. Of course if Dems blocked it too than that says something.

Do you mean his temporary payroll tax reductions? In 2011 and 2012 they went down? They are back to the same rate in 2013.

Exactly. So next time you hear some numbnut screaming for more border security what they are really asking for is even more jack booted thugs roaming my neighborhood harassing Americans. More guns, more toys, more police powers, less freedom.
They scream for border security all the time.

They don't quite understand the concept of "Love thy Brother."

You can hate and try and kill, all that are foreign to you. This is the way I see our Government, and Mexico now.

So scared of each other... illegal aliens, etc.

Mexicans are just like you and I and they only need a chance to succeed.

So are Arabs, Muslims, etc.

Borders, like Government, is an artificial entity, probably described by some guy in his sleeping cap on a cold, wintery, night.

People are all that count.

Mexico and Canada? Our borders?

No.

Do you see a reason for borders?

I hope you posted this from a padded room.

There is nothing artificial about borders. Its basic part of human life. We've always had tribes and a sense of land we controlled.

Can we just impeach obama and get him out of office?

If he goes ahead with this immigration issue without going through congress, he needs to be removed.

I encourage you to try!

I seriously hope Obama goes balls out on the immigration issue. It's waited way too long.

I hope obama does try something.

I hope he gets impeached.

I hope history records him as the worst president ever.

Worst president ever should be a given, we already know that for a fact.

Me too!

I hope he gets impeached.

The Republicans aren't stupid enough to try, but I hope that I'm wrong about that.

If they impeach him they will lose and then they will get their asses handed to them electorally for it. I encourage you to write your congressman and tell him to impeach Obama. There's probably not a single thing Republicans could do that would damage them more.

Nah, he'll probably be rated pretty well. He's had some solid domestic policy accomplishments, he's overseen the best recovery from the financial crisis in the developed world, etc. I imagine he'll be ranked better than most, but not among the absolute best.

If the republicans lose the impeachment, I bet they gain more seats during the next election.

You are not just funny, you are hilarious.

obama has done nothing to improve the economy, that is in part to the federal reserve right?

Remember what obama said to a democrat when he was asked about spending money on infrastructure? Something along the lines of we are keeping count.

With this immigration issue, laws come from congress.

Obama has done many things to improve the economy. The federal reserve has done some as well in terms of monetary policy, but Obama has kept fiscal policy looser than it would have been otherwise.

To look at the difference look no farther than Europe. Europe basically followed the Republican plan of budget cutting. They experienced a disaster. We didn't, and it worked out much better for us.

When you can print money out of thin air, to the tune of $85 billion a month for 6 years, you can buy a nation out of anything.

We printed out way out of recession, nothing more nothing less.

Not really. I would explain the liquidity trap to you, but I feel like it would be pointless.
