Doesn't say much for the year , does it?
Says a lot about it. He, being a major American Historical precedent, was a shoo-in. Anyone who can't see the importance of this has their head way too far up their Partisan Ass to really matter.
Care to explain that statement.
As for the little snipe , meh. I wish the best for my country no matter whos on office.
What's to explain?
Well. Aside from race I dont see anything different than politics as usual. I mean the guys liek 7% black. BFD.
The way the economy is the dems could have run Fozzy bear and won.
Whether you think he was just blowing smoke up our collective ass or not, Obama ran a campaign based almost entirely on the idea that there is a lot of hope for the future, and that tomorrow can and should be better than today. That's a fairly unusual message right there compared to the doom and gloom and nasty smears that describe the majority of modern political campaigns (including the campaign of Obama's opponent). THAT, at the very least, made his run something other than politics as usual.
Wow. I think you could have been talking about Dubyas first campaign, maybe Clinton or Reagan.... Its all old. Its all the same. Obama is nothing but a politician. You think the promise of "change" or " hope" is new? Its a buzzword used to motivate the masses.
They are all crooks and liars. Im hoping he proves me wrong but Im pretty sure he'll make the voters who believed look like clowns.
8 years is a long time in politics, I think that in the minds of most people, Obama's campaign stood in contrast to the 2004 election, which was quite possibly the WORST choice we were offered in recent history. McCain continued that "proud" tradition with his campaign this time around, but Obama did something different. I'm not claiming he's genuine (although I think he is), or that this approach is unique...but it certainly wasn't shared by the last 4 guys running for the office of the President.
And it might be slightly off topic, but I've always found the "they are all crooks and liars" to be incredibly pretentious and hypocritical. First of all, it's usually an attitude adopted whenever a guy you don't like is the politician in question, and it's quickly abandoned when some random gomer you DO like is in office. And secondly, it's stupidity masquerading as intelligent commentary. It doesn't take any brains at all to be an unwavering pessimist, it's just as dumb as the guy who uncritically accepts everything every politician says. The smart folks in the room are the ones who try to tell the good from the bad, your attitude is just lazy.
