How many people does Obama really need to travel with him to visit his dying grandmother? He suspended his campaign so all he really needed was his family and whatever Secret Service he needed for protection.
And like I said, nobody is claiming that he shouldn't have gone to visit her. What I am claiming is that its just as wasteful for him to use his campaign plane and money to visit her and people like you will give him a free pass on it. However, those same people raise all hell when Palin gets a clothing budget to use during the campaign. Its hypocrisy, simple as that.

Bullshit. Not even close. How much did the flight to New York to go shopping cost? Was it a commercial flight or a chartered flight? To get to Hawaii, he HAS to fly. To parade around the US, she does not HAVE to have $150,000 worth of clothing and makeup. An elitist pretending to be one of the regular people, period. Obama never claimed to be a middle class person, but based on what I've seen, he might be alot closer than she is.
One person is campaigning as an 'average joe', the other is not. Hint: This is why one of them spending $150,000 on clothes is hypocritical, and for the other it would not be.
Obama did not suspend his campaign in the same way that you are thinking. McCain stupidly decided to shut his whole deal down, he claimed he was pulling his ads, everything. Obama did no such thing, he just said that he himself was going to step off the campaign trail, and that's what he did. Of course he still needs to direct his campaign, and his staffers are still very useful to have around. He just wanted to spend some time to see a dying old lady, does everything really need to be this low?

This is probably the most honest assessment we have gotten in this thread as to his reasoning. So :thumbsup: to you. Unfortunately, most here can't see the same level-headed reasoning as to why Palin was given the shopping trip for the clothing the left was howling over.
I don't know how many people he needs -- do you? Do you know that the Secret Service would let him pick up some other plane at the spur of the moment to fly to Hawaii? I'd imagine the new charter's employees require some serious vetting and inspection of planes, equipment, etc.

You're bitching about the cost of the flight by Obama to Hawaii and I counter that not only did Palin spend $150,000 on clothes and makeup, she (or someone for her) spent money to fly to New York and back on top of the $150,000. You're the only moron that I've heard anywhere complaing about Obama taking the campaign plane to Hawaii. Get over it. It's a non issue.
If you want to overlook "Oh, I'm Mrs. Middle Class" spending more than most people make in 3 years on clothing for a few weeks, be my guest. That's your business.
You missed the entire premise of the thread. I suggest you re-read the OP and start over. The point is, those like you give Obama a free pass on what he spends campaign money on , but given Palin hell and call her fake for using campaign funds to buy clothes for the campaign.
And again, "Mrs. Middle Class" did not spend the money, the RNC did.
