I skipped multiple summons when in college.

While I agree with you in principle, do you honestly expect the POTUS to serve on a jury while in office? Lets be realistic here. When the heck would any POTUS have time for that?

Please excuse Mr Obama from serving for jury duty, the economy is in the shitter, he has 2 wars to attend to and several other pressing duties.

Considering his current residence is in DC, I don't think he is eligible for jury duty in Illinois.

Right after I moved to MO with my daughter, she got a summons for duty in TX where we had moved from. She just called up and told them she no longer live in TX and that was the end of that.

I'm not a politician but I've been summoned to and avoided jury duty a few times while in college. It's actually quite easy and I believe any citizen can do it.

you really think the president of the USA should drop everything to attend jury duty for some stupid ass local trial? are you seriously this thick headed? if he did this, would you bitch that he spent $1 million tax payer money wasting gov't resources getting to chicago and then complaining that he should be doing more important things??
 
I think its bullshit jury duty exists in the first place. -I- have more important things to do, let alone the fucking president.
 
I can't believe people are actually making a thing about this.

no attorney in their right mind would want the POTUS on their jury.

I'm by no means anything close to an Obamaphile, but I don't consider this a big issue. Having any president show up for jury duty would be far more hastle than it's worth. The security arrangements alone would be a huge waste; look how much it cost the taxpayers for the Obama's date night in NYC. I'm happy to give any president a pass on this.

Exactly.

Anyway, I got summoned for jury duty when I was out of town at college. I declined for that reason - out of town for college isn't so far off from out of town for work. I guess Patranus thinks I'm part of the elite ruling class trying to obtain special treatment too.

I got out of it based on financial hardship but it wasn't that easy. I got summoned and the company I worked for did NOT pay us for jury duty so I would have received $8(?) for the day. It was late in the year and I already had my few remaining days planned so doing jury duty meant missing a day of pay. At the time I could not afford it so they excused me but I had to provide a current bank statement to the court to prove it.
 
I've deferred jury duty several times. I guess I'm a member of the ruling class (they're letting anyone in these days). Peasants, present me with your comeliest daughters so I may choose among them.
 
It would be a complete waste of time for any active President to sit in on a jury. There are many other other CIVIC duties they should alreay be accountable for, this would be least on the list. It's not like there are a shortage of people who could fill in.

LOL, but if you sent a reply saying "I am currently involved in engagements, pertaining to my employment outside of the state of Illinois, that will not be concluded in time to report for this request. It would cause excessive hardship for me and others in order to attend jury duty."

You would almost certainly be excused.

It's really just an extended version of "I can't make it".
