Obama says "no thanks" to jury duty

i said it before. but really you are a fucking idiot.

I see.

Care to elaborate your position?

Obama thinks he is above the law and doesn't have to show up to jury duty.

Now, if you had a presentation at work and were "unable to make it" do you think the courts would give you a pass? Nope.

That is the definition of special treatment only afforded to the ruling class.

I dont think any president ever served on a jury while in office. He is the commander-in-chief. Let the judge serve on the jury. This is a bit of a joke.

It might be a good idea to drop this one because even an idiot understands that being President of the US is a bit different than "having a presentation at work".

Of course if you want to be one, I'll get out of your way.

In a way I think he should show up. But you can get kicked off jury duty for various reasons and being president would be one of them. Realistically it wouldn't be a huge burden for him to show up, dick around for an hour or two on his blackberry, and get kicked off somewhere. It would be a big of a dog and pony, though.

And if he did show up, you'd see a post by Patranus about how he's wasting time showing up for jury duty when he has more important things to do.

Of course then this post would be entitled:
"Obama wastes thousands of taxpayer dollars to avoid jury duty"

*Edit* Damn, person above me just beat me to it.

As much as I'd rather Obama be distracted from bruising our country further by having to participate in a protracted court case............this.

again you are a fucking idiot.

I think this thread title is misleading.

The article said "won't be able to make it". I'm pretty sure if you're working (or on vacation) away from Chicago, like in Washington DC, the court will excuse you from jury duty.

Anyway, non-citizens can't be on a jury 😉

Don't you remember from the other thread? I'm a Republican now. I knew I should have demanded a T-shirt...

I think I'm a corporatist shill now, but it's hard to keep up. I used to be a flaming liberal when Bush was in office, and I still am on other forums.

It's hard to remember everyone's expectations 😉

I know that everyone else has already pointed out your idiocy, but I'll just go one step further and say that when I was called in for jury duty last year, I was really busy at work, and was allowed to submit a note from my employer to that effect to defer the jury service to a later date. You can't use that excuse at the federal level, but I'm fairly certain most counties allow hardship exemptions and deferments, including work related. So, to answer your entirely asinine question, yes, I do think if I had a presentation at work and was unable to make it the courts would give me a pass, because they did exactly that for me less than one year ago (and I'm not the President).

But then again, as Supreme Emperor of the Milky Way, I guess I probably qualify for that ruling class exemption you claim, don't I? Dammit! You were right all along!

Jackass.

Just so nobody can say that I never agree with anything Obama does.. I agree with this.. there is no possible way this would ever work.. There should be a little 'Is President?" checkbox in the Jury system to prevent such a notice from even going out.. lol
