Your untrue and deliberately misleading thread title has been corrected for you. Please do not make such a basic "mistake" again. This is your one warning.

Dodd is not responsible for this, Larry Summers and Geithner are, they need to resign. They are peddling the myth that Dodd stripped this stuff out, in fact, it was the exact opposite.

Obama needs to come out and fire them, now. Can't believe the Administration is trying to throw him under the bus on this.

Color me unsuprised that your biased choice of links and selective information for this story includes the names of two Democrats but none of the Republicans who received contributions. Here's more complete info. Number three on the list was John McCain, and number six was Mitt Romney.

Will Obama, McCain, Dodd Return Contributions From AIG Employees?
AIG Gave More Than $630,000 During the 2008 Political Cycle

By JONATHAN KARL

March 18, 2009

AIG employees kept doling out donations to politicians, including presidential candidate Barack Obama, after getting bailed out with federal funds last year, raising the question of whether those politicians will now return the money.
.
.
Here's the list of top AIG recipients for the 2008 campaign:

1. Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., $103,100
2. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., $101,332
3. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., $59,499
4. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., $35,965
5. Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., $24,750
6. Former Gov. Mitt Romney, (R) Pres $20,850
7. Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., $19,975
8. Rep. John Larson, D-Conn, $19,750
9. Sen. John Sununu, R-N.H., $18,500
10. Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani (R) Pres $13,200
11. Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa., $12,000
12. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., $11,000

That's eight Democrats and four Republicans, which just happens to reflect the way the nation voted in the last election. As wrong as they may be in principle, at least until now, large campaign contributions have been standard practice among large Wall Street firms. The more important question is whether AIG and other large contributors received any special consideration in return for their donations.

AIG may be scumbags, but they appear to be equal opportunity scumbags, and your attempt to paint this as a one sided problem attributable only to Democrats is like all of your posts on the forums... an EPIC FAILURE.

The problem is that the lobbyist continue to get office's in the President's administration as well, not to mention other places.

IF they are lobbyist they shouldn't even be aloowed to get that job.

I thought that the level of discourse had been higher here of late, when did this happen?

Another non-issue from winnar. As Mugs pointed out, this is a drop in the bucket - if Obama has bent over for AIG at all, it isn't over $100k

You mean like a clause in the stimulus package protecting their bonuses, courtesy of the Treasury Department and your Tax Evader in Chief?

3 of those Republicans aren't even in office. I guess 8 Democrats and 1 Republican who got less than half as much as the top guys is 'equal opportunity'.

Obama's a tax evader??? Proof or STFU.

They were in or running for office when they received the contributions from AIG. You're still an EPIC FAILURE.

That clause was added in by Congress.

Obama did not like the little things in the package, but the overall package was needed.

It was Congress that rushed the packed through without discussion. Fearful that such little extras might come to light?

I don't know CC. Today's news is that the Treasury and Geithner had that clause added in over the objection of some in Congress. And I specifically mean that part of the clause protecting bonuses before Feb 11.

Things are changing fast in this story.

In all fairness to the OP, "bonus" was in the article's headline/title. That's usually been permitted.
