First time in a Winnar111 thread? He pretty much thrives on misrepresenting the truth. Or outright lying. whichever works.

Yup, posts by WInnar111 is synonymous with posts by theonion.com.

I saw earlier today a graphic and a lot of republicans received money from AIG, too. As long as lobbyists control government, this is what will happen, so the news is not surprising.

Don't worry Obama has waged war on lobbists that's why you don't see any at the White House, it's kind of like earmarks.

To quote the old lady from Wendy's: "Where's the beef?" To add a cliche: Correlation does not imply causation. OP, can you demonstrate that Obama himself intervened to provide favors to AIG as a quid pro quo? If not, this thread is speculative and without foundation.

I understand that this kind of post is a reactionary response to the same level of crap the left trotted out for the last 8 years while trying to slime the Bush admin. No doubt there's going to be another 4 and likely 8 years more of this reactionary trash from the right as payback.

Is either side ever going to start taking the high road?

Anyway, almost all of the Congress has been bought and paid for by someone, and Wall Street and the bankers are near the top of the list of contributors.

If you run for Congress you have to be a whore.

The opponent of campaign finance reform is always the side that is better at raising money. The proponent is always the one that is worse. Expect Dems to be firmly against reform now that Obama spanked McCain in the campaign.

Damn crooks, reps and dems alike. People shouldn't be so naive and point fingers and ignore their own side. The repubs are as dirty as the dems

For a guy who claims to be from outside the beltway - this is a fucking joke. hell, he was only really working for a year or so and has racked up a history of cash payouts that would make career Republicans blush.

Face it people, Obama is a CROOK - plain and simple. He played the dumb, poor, and stupid - just to fuck us all.

Did you guys miss the part where Obama said they will not get the money? In fact it looks like AIG is going to have to pay double what the bonuses were.

If Obama does the right thing and launches a full investigation into the conduct or Dodd and Frank I could care less if he took money from AIG. Both sides took money but only a few helped these scum get a bonus for tanking the entire world economy. Frank and Dodd have been in the middle of all of this they need to face the attorney general.

Obama is pretty much like every other politician in D.C., the elite figure they can dupe more people with a Presidential makeover after the trail of sh*t Bush left behind, and Obama was/is their man. Hopefully people are realizing now that if they want government to start bringing real change, to serve the people's interests, and not the special interest, they can no longer take the promises of their elected leaders at face value, and must be willing to raise hell. Until Americans are able to see through the left-right, red state vs blue state paradigm BS, and demand justice, we will fail as a nation. This means Gitmo time for Madoff and his whole damn family that knowingly stole money, it means the execs who crashed and burned Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers etc should be left rotting in Abu Ghraib. Who needs to worry about Al Qaeda when you have people living in our own country dealing out financial terrorism and destroying more families than 1000 shoe bombers ever could.

LOL politics and slime are as ancient a profession as any. Somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind I remember seeing a show about when they uncovered pompeii and all the crude political graffiti that was found on the walls. We've just digitized it.

Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are - Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.

Have these two dimwits give the money back to the taxpayers imo.

Obama needs to work harder, considering Bush got 1.7 mil in a "bonus" from the oil and gas sector.

It's funny that some that bitched about McCain/Feingold limiting funding are now crying about this. If I had my way the entire system of how we fund political campaigns would be scrapped, and we'd start over.

Never going to happen of course.

Sounds like a thing to be proud of. Per Joe Biden, Exxon Mobil is the most Patriotic entity in the United States.

I didnt call them bonuses did I? Doesnt mean these two shouldnt give the money to the taxpayers. Anybody collecting money from AIG and voted yes on the stimulus bill should do the same.

Now here's a post I can agree with.
Bush took 160K from AIG in 2004 and he supported a bail out. Conspiracy? Hardly.

AIG is one of countless corporations who give money to politicians. I don't particularly care for the system, but it is what it is. That being the case, if politicians had to pass on voting on legislation that somehow impacted a contributor, they would never be able to vote on anything.

Maybe that's a good thing :p
