“This is not good for the White House right now,” Russert said to BuzzFeed editor Ben Smith. “Does it stick?”

“Well, sure,” Smith replied. “They look terrible.”

Smith said that the emails indicate that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may have been directly involved in the process of “scrubbing” references to Islamic terrorism from her department’s talking points. MSNBC

DNI spokesman Shawn Turner told CBS News, "The intelligence community assessed from the very beginning that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack." He added that this classified information was shared with the White House. CBS News then quite correctly concludes that, as a member of Obama's cabinet, Susan Rice would would've known this. All cabinet members are given classified briefings.

The bottom line, then, is that during her Sunday show appearances, Rice knew the information she was spreading was false.

Yep, you still don't understand how talking points work, especially when the talking points are dealing with national security.

Keep preaching the faux outrage brotha!!

So we no longer have any rapid response forces?

We did have a rapid response force set up, militia in the local area. They failed to show up.

Why are you still arguing this? How many more authoritative sources need to say that you were wrong?

Vice Chair Joint Chiefs of Staff General James Cartwriht says it takes upwards of 1-2 days to get properly prepared for an assault against the types of forces that attacked the consulate in Benghazi.

Armchair generals saying it should have merely been a matter of hours to respond? Swinnnnng and a miss.

I sure hope nobody ever decides to attack our borders since it takes 2 days to have a response.

Exactly, because we all know that reacting to something on the front door is exactly the same and reacting to something in a different hemisphere.

I really hope you are just being snarky, otherwise way to prove eskimospy right.

And you believe the vice chair?

think about what that means if its true.

Terrorists around the world can strike our embassies, and not expect anything to happen to them for 24-48hrs.

If I was a terrorist mastermind, I'm start planning some attack now. I could be long gun in 2 days.

Here is a fun project for you since you seem like a smart guy.

How about you look up the last 5 times our embassies have been attacked and tell us how quickly our military responded. If you find examples of a response that took less than 12 hours then I think everyone would have to concede to your point.

If you can't find any examples, no penalties against you but until you post your results then you should agree to stop posting on this forum.

Do you accept this challenge?

Yea, where was the military response to the embassy attacks under Bush?

January 22, 2002. Calcutta, India. Gunmen associated with Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami attack the U.S. Consulate. Five people are killed.

June 14, 2002. Karachi, Pakistan. Suicide bomber connected with al Qaeda attacks the U.S. Consulate, killing 12 and injuring 51.

October 12, 2002. Denpasar, Indonesia. U.S. diplomatic offices bombed as part of a string of "Bali Bombings." No fatalities.

February 28, 2003. Islamabad, Pakistan. Several gunmen fire upon the U.S. Embassy. Two people are killed.

May 12, 2003. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Armed al Qaeda terrorists storm the diplomatic compound, killing 36 people including nine Americans. The assailants committed suicide by detonating a truck bomb.

July 30, 2004. Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A suicide bomber from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan attacks the U.S. Embassy, killing two people.

December 6, 2004. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al Qaeda terrorists storm the U.S. Consulate and occupy the perimeter wall. Nine people are killed.

March 2, 2006. Karachi, Pakistan again. Suicide bomber attacks the U.S. Consulate killing four people, including U.S. diplomat David Foy who was directly targeted by the attackers. (I wonder if Lindsey Graham or Fox News would even recognize the name "David Foy." This is the third Karachi terrorist attack in four years on what's considered American soil.)

September 12, 2006. Damascus, Syria. Four armed gunmen shouting "Allahu akbar" storm the U.S. Embassy using grenades, automatic weapons, a car bomb and a truck bomb. Four people are killed, 13 are wounded.

January 12, 2007. Athens, Greece. Members of a Greek terrorist group called the Revolutionary Struggle fire a rocket-propelled grenade at the U.S. Embassy. No fatalities.

March 18, 2008. Sana'a, Yemen. Members of the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic Jihad of Yemen fire a mortar at the U.S. Embassy. The shot misses the embassy, but hits nearby school killing two.

July 9, 2008. Istanbul, Turkey. Four armed terrorists attack the U.S. Consulate. Six people are killed.

September 17, 2008. Sana'a, Yemen. Terrorists dressed as military officials attack the U.S. Embassy with an arsenal of weapons including RPGs and detonate two car bombs. Sixteen people are killed, including an American student and her husband (they had been married for three weeks when the attack occurred). This is the second attack on this embassy in seven months.

I don't think sovereign nations would respond to favorably to us invading their countries every time one of our embassies were attacked.

On Monday, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) responded to reports that the Department of Justice had secretly obtained two full months of phone records from the Associated Press, prompting the AP’s President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Pruitt to call it a “massive and unprecedented intrusion.” He also commented on the administration’s ever-changing story with regard to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya, and the IRS’ admissions that it politically targeted conservative organizations for scrutiny.

He doesn't actually comment and offer up his own opinion, he just posts talking points.
So AP, CNN, ABCnews, and other news stories are now "talking points"? For who, the right wing?! o_O

Perhaps Susan Rice should have asked them for some last year instead of having Clinton draft hers... :p

LOL at the GOP trolls still lieing about this.

New poll:

41% of the GOP thinks this is the worst scandal in the history of the US ever. (LOL)

But 39% of those don't even know where Benghazi is!

Talk about your typical ignorant GOP voter!

Link

Just goes to show that there are many GOP'ers that bindly repeat whatever they are told without any rational thought.

I mean they think this is worse then Watergate? Iran contra? Really?

So keep on with that blind partisan ignorance...it's worked so well for you over the past decade right?

You continue being willfully dishonest. I assume you will also continue to run away from challenges to your BS, too cowardly and craven to actually respond. No wonder you keep plopping in to defend IGBT. You have much in common.

Other than to tell you this, nothing you've written is worthy of a response... "dear."

Weaksauce.

Silence gives consent. You thus presumably concede that your belligerent squawking has been nothing more than the usual partisan chest-thumping. You cannot support your claims. You don't actually care about the deaths of those four Americans either. You're playing politics with their lives, nothing more. Outrage theater.

That's hardly surprising for one of the most enthusiastic cheerleaders for killing thousands of Americans (and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis) in BushCo's attack on Iraq. It's SOP for armchair generals nestled safely in their La-Z-Boys. Internet blowhards who dive under their beds as soon as their bluster is challenged. Run, Forest, run.

Bowfinger, nothing you've written concerning this thread's subject is worthy of pointed response. Your attempts to deflect, insult everyone, or otherwise justify the current Government's actions -- with phrases like "plausible alternative explanation" -- are beyond juvenile. I refuse to play your little trolling games beyond this final response.

Stick with the assumptions and ad hominem... you're definitely going places.

You're lying again. This isn't about me. It's about your failure to support your allegations and innuendo, and I'm not the only one who's challenged you on them. As far as crying about insults is concerned, if you don't like it don't work so hard to earn them. You become quite belligerent in attacking others, yet you're suddenly a delicate little flower when you reap what you sow? Please.

Hey some of them think it's worse than Iran-Contra + Watergate multiplied by 10!

That was my favorite comment so far and it shows just how ridiculous the GOP has become. Watergate was an illegal act, with a massive cover up that went all the way to the top. Iran Contra was outright treason. Benghazi was was nothing illegal with a poor handling of talking points that may have been a cover up attempt of less than a week. Yet somehow it's this HUGE thing.

Honestly of the 3 things going on that fuel GOP rage (Benghazi, IRS, AP phone records), only the AP thing is even something that should reflect poorly on the President and should garner any rage. And so far as I can tell there's no evidence anything of even questionable legality was done in that one.

That is actually a good statistic.
