The beautiful thing about threads like this are that those who have even a shred of vision can see what utter garbage so many people are.

Well, that's not quite what I meant. No one is perfect.

And it was a fairly small mistake as well.

Then it was an easy thing to say "oops," wasn't it? So why the big deal, why the thread?

Could have been worse, he couldn't have started an unwarranted war, you know.

Yeah, yeah, blah blah. I must have been a big fan of Bush since I'm not up Obama's ass, huh?

Well gosh Bam, any other choice except those the TV tells you are Ok are for loons and those who support other choices must have a screw loose. So the only rational options are the dems or repubs, all others are for wingnuts.

Lets see what happens when he makes a REAL mistake. My guess he will point the finger at everyone but himself.

Where is Bush's apology? He got us here in the first place... :(

/edit - Never mind... I forget who I am dealing with... You know nothing, and understand even less.

Oh look, another "But Bush".

For the last 8 years you couldn't mention Bill Clinton's name without a bunch of liberals screaming "BUT CLINTON ZOMG HAR HAR!!!". Enjoy.

It's funny to hear your righties compare Clinton to GWB - as though their job performance was even close. I'd like to see an honest poll asking the worst president in history. Any guess who would score higher between Bill and W?

Case in point, thank you sir.

If he screwed up, and admitted that he screwed up (only after the guy withdrew), then how is it that he didn't screw up appointing Geitner? Exact same circumstances... he backed him the whole way. What is different?

The two were under different circumstances. Geitner learned about this problems during Vetting, and immediately paid them. Daschle, not so much.

I think he is saying that Obama apologized within 2 weeks of office, and we are still waiting for all of Bush's apologies... but you didn't read that because you just want to continue the hackery.

I'm not so sure.

Geithner failed to pay self-employment taxes for money he earned from 2001 to 2004 while working for the International Monetary Fund, according to materials released by the committee Tuesday.

He paid some of the taxes in 2006, after an IRS audit discovered the discrepancy for taxes paid in 2003 and 2004. But it wasn't until much later - days before Obama tapped him to head Treasury late last year - that Geithner paid back most of the taxes, incurred in 2001 and 2002. He did so after Obama's transition team found that Geithner had made the same tax mistake his first two years at the IMF as the one the IRS found he made during his last two years there.

Link

So after the audit he should have known that he was supposed to pay for 2001 and 2002, but didn't pay them until he was vetted.

Contrary to many others, I don't think the tax problems were all that different.

I think Daschle's problems were on multiple fronts: The close ties and money he received form the health industry and the appearence of the 'limo lifestyle' is what did him in IMO.

I think the money Daschle made from the health care industry raises some issues those in Congress would rather not see. I'm pretty sure we had some 'reform' not too long ago where Congresspersons were prevented from lobbying too soon after leaving office. Looks to me like Daschle demonstrates how utterly useless those rules are. All politicians eventually leave office; no reason to shut down the post-office 'gravy train' if at all avoidable. I suspect Daschle got sacrificed for that purpose.

I think some of the posters here are so bent out of shape about him admitting to making a mistake because they've never admitted to being wrong in their lives. No matter how idiotic the crap that spills out of their mouths, they never admit being wrong, and never change their mind about anything.

Seems it went from

Bush Senior "No New..."
Clinton "I screwed....."
Bush Junior "It's screwed..."
Obama "I screwed up"

I love the thinking on the left, the more "screw ups" Obama makes the better president he becomes.

He will soon be the best president this world has ever seen (if not already).

Look, I know your Budmantom, and so I know you're just trolling/being stupid, but people aren't happy Obama screwed up. They are happy because he actually has the balls to admit it. The last administration was terrified of ever admitting they were wrong on anything, and it made them pathetically cling to horrible ideas long past their expiration date. Obama being able to admit he's wrong is a hopeful sign that he won't go down the same awful path.

He has the balls to admit he made a mistake with a tax cheat like Daschel but not Geithner yeah that takes balls little teeny tiny ones like you have.

I'm old enough that I don't have to use words like stupid and troll every time I disagree with someone.

I LOVE it how this guy has been in for what... 30 days... and he is expected to know it all, and do it all.

Hey people... If YOU started a new job and was given the thumbs up or down
after 30 days, would you NOT cry foul????

I cant believe how delusional the country has become after 8 years of insanity.

ALWAYS remember... It could be much worse. GW could have had another term left.
Or Mccain could have gotten in... the guy that had no idea how many houses he owned.
You think "HE" would have cared about taxes being paid or not???
Geeeeeeeeeeesh!!!
