Why did they mention the oil disaster in the Gulf?
The story's current, but instead of closing the area to Americans Obama is merely not re-opening it to Americans - a subtle but important distinction as the Messiah didn't give it to the Mexicans, he just isn't taking it back. 80 freakin' miles!

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu told Fox News that violence against law enforcement officers and U.S. citizens has increased in the past four months, further underscoring the need to keep the 80 miles of border land off-limits to Americans.

The refuge had been adversely affected by the increase in drug smugglers, illegal activity and surveillance, which made it dangerous for Americans to visit.

SNIP

U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials have warned visitors in Arizona to beware of heavily armed drug smugglers and human traffickers.
Why the hell doesn't this underscore the need to keep the 80 miles of border land off-limits to "heavily armed drug smugglers and human traffickers"? Washington sucks donkey ass, with both parties competing to see which one can make the donkey's eyes sink in the farthest.

Huh?

Mexicans have been slowly reclaiming the Southwest for a while now.

How can Mexican-Americans reclaim the southwest when they are Americans if born here...Americans cant reclaim America...That doesnt make sense at all.

Need an eye check Pedro, you're seeing Americans that aren't there. His quoted post says "Mexicans", yours says "Mexicans-Americans". Big difference.

You know what's funny? Seeing how easily those guys scaled the fence in contrast to American republicans constantly demanding more fences. Definition of insanity....

Yeah, fences are ridiculously ineffective. Shoot to kill orders would produce much better results.

This is ridiculous. It sounds like it's not just an Obama issue. The number one role of government is to keep law and order.

They did not give the land to the Mexicans either. The U.S. is closing the park for the safety of our citizens until the area can be returned to a safe place.

If thats the case they need to close all of Arizona, Texas, and California. None of that area is safe for Americans. Give it all to Mexico, and then build a huge fucking wall and shoot anyone who tried to cross it.

Ok so does that make large areas of PA German then ? Did the Germans take over PA, or what about areas of NYC, do they belong to Italy ? Just because alot of people in a state have Mexican background doesnt mean they are not American. Being born here = American, just as American as anyone else is.

illegal immigrants are different, but there are illegals from every nation and not just Mexico.

I agree, shoot to kill any illegal on the spot would definately help, think of how high we could stack the bodies. Maybe they'd think twice if they had to climb over poor Pedro.

Arizona needs to step up and embarrass Obama yet again. Let citizens patrol it, deputize them and with shoot to kill orders. One month of that and the problem will be solved. I'm sure there would be plenty of volunteers.

This shit is way beyond out of hand, it's a freaking invasion and we're losing.

Might help, but given the organization of the drug gangs it would probably just produce mass-civilian casualties. If Obama doesn't act, guess the Arizona National Guard will actually have to do some national guarding.

So if you aren't allowed into a prison, that means the government gave the facility and the land to prisoners?

*sigh*

It is still under U.S. authority, not off limits to U.S. law enforcement - the Mexicans do not own the land and have no rights to ever claim the land.

Say a crime happens in any another part of the country, law enforcement comes in and tapes up the surrounding area to prevent American citizens from entering the area for a temporary time frame...

OMG LAW ENFORCEMENT GAVE THE LAND TO THE CRIMINALS!!!

No, that's not the situation there, and this is not the situation here.

Yep, just like all of you Iraq invasion fanbois volunteered a few years back yet continued to post here daily from the States. I'm still trying to figure out how you all managed to be in two places at once. Neat trick. I would imagine the best thing about being an internet keyboard soldier (or deputy in this case) is that there is no blood spilt from your enemy or you.

Zzz, same shit, different conflict you can champion from the safety of your basement.

Only one problem with this story, it actually [first] happened in 2006:

If only a no nonsense, no nuance Republican had been President when this first happened, I can guarantee you we wouldn't have this problem today! ():)
