Obama declares swine flu a national emergency.

From what I read in the comment sections of Canadian news papers and talking to people, most individuals won't get the shot for one reason or another. Please choose the poll answer that best fit your course of action.

Thanks.

PS: I get the flu shot every year and will again this year

MOD: I realize Mosh also had a thread on this subject (Will you get a swine flu vaccination this Fall? ) but I wanted to get some quantitative answers to specific issues I feel are important. Maybe we could merge the thread if it's feasible and acceptable to Mosh.

Edit: The article in question on the CBC web site: Obama declares swine flu a national emergency

You need to make a distinction in your poll between H1N1 and seasonal flu. No one gets an H1N1 every year.

To directly answer your question, I've already had the seasonal flu shot, and I'll get the H1N1 when it comes out.

I would, but everyone living around me is starting to H1N1 already, and the vaccine wont be widely available for a couple more weeks. So it will probably be too late.

I'll get one, then administer several hundred, then spend a month filing the paperwork.

A responsible health care worker. My favorite.

Thank you for being a true PRO.

I've never had a flu vaccine and never had a severe illness. Not going to start now.

Obama's a moron... the flu a national emergency... pfft...

Last time I got a flu shot I got the sickest I have ever been in my entire life. Probably wont ever be getting another one.

Knock, knock.

We've already had a couple hundred of kids die because of H1N1. People are having a fit because someone claims to have dystonia based on a shot, which would be a first. It's Balloon Boy medicine to think that caused her problem.

So if we only have 50K people die instead of 100K, does that make H1N1 a non issue?

You can't get the flu from the vaccine but the immunity take's up to 2 weeks to build up. What happened? Did you get cocky and started licking door handles right after you got the shot?

That's sad that people have died, but people die every year from the flu and pneumonia and it's not necessarily "H1N1." This is fear mongering and almost as ridiculous as regular flu shots.

Nah, worse. I worked as a cashier at a grocery store at the time. 😛

Not going to bother. Going to keep staying active, eating good and staying well hydrated... and work on getting more sleep. heh. Not worried in the least.

I normally don't bother (no particular reason, other then hating waiting in line and stuff) but since I work in the hospital I'll probably get it so I don't risk passing it on to medical staff or patients.
