First of all you insult my intelligence to think I would even consider one of those "foofy" spreads. I only use real salted butter. Lastly, butter on oatmeal is like a white guy walking around in Harlem after midnight - it just doesn't belong there.

I take it you've never tried a bit of butter in your oats? It brings a whole new level of flavors out of the grain. After all, butter is made from milk...and you DO put milk on your oatmeal...don't you?

forget the oats, try barley. toast hulled barley in a hot pan, then cover with water and boil until tender. drizzle with honey.
