So, let me ask you a serious, non-biased question, and I expect a truthful answer: would you have felt alarmed and alerted authorities to this extent had the guy been blond with blue eyes and pink complexion?
How many terrorists do you know that fit that complexion?
1. Tim McVeigh.

Exactly.
Most subway riders would'nt have the gall to alert the authorities.
telstar1, did anyone else notice what the guy was doing?

Uh, there are always people using counters in the stations, especially 42nd St. They usually work for the MTA. Of course, they are usually wearing orange vests. The guy was also a moron not to identify himself to you if he was a legitimate worker.

I would probably have paid no attention to it and listen to my music and sleep like i usually do.
*edit* oh if i did notice someone with a clicker... my first thought would be probably something for school/paper on # of people that come into a subway cart... meh the last thing on my mind would be of a attack

I'm sorry but I highly doubt a terrorist doing some research work would be wearing muslim clothing and just holding out a counter, that's just way too obvious, that's like setting off an alarm on purpose.. Wouldn't it make more sense to just to blend in with normal clothes and click the counter inside your pocket...This guy was most likely either crazy or just doing something else.
I also went up to the ticket booth, asked the woman to call a cop, which she did ... and I told him what I saw. He gave me the number of NYC detectives to call, which I did ... and gave them a description of the guy, and told him what I saw.

*Waits for somebody to call OP racist because he pointed out that the guy was muslim*
Yeah ... His attire (namely the cap he was wearing) was traditional muslim clothing. I have absolutely nothing against Muslim people. It's just the most accurate physical description I could make for the guy, and I noticed his clicker before I noticed his ethnicity.

not sure if i would have done the same thing... just cause if i were a terrorist, i'd use a $2.99 digital watch with the start-stop timer feature. but that's just me *shrugs*
