I have owned 3x 7950s and 4 GTX 670s. They both perform well, no doubt. Its the price I mainly have an issue with.

During the F2P bundle, you could get a PNY 670 for $280 and sell the bundle for $50.

???

Why do people still bring up the clock for clock argument. I was under the impression that 1000mhz on nvidia != 1000mhz on AMD because of the way they process information.

Lots faster i think clock for clock(amd),not that i notice.im mainly playing on gfs rig stcok 7950,not overclocked cant tell the difference tbh.

You know what Nvidia should do.
$60 in steam credit.
That could go a long way. Especially in steam sales.

Doesn't this happen with every thread?

Indeed it does, hehe and is predictable. The key to me is to find what best fits an individual's subjective need, taste, tolerance and wallet -- and why flexibility and choice are important and paramount. I know what is important to me but may be a polar opposite view for someone else.

There is information out there discussing strengths and weaknesses, reviewers, vocal gamers, investigations and official data ----- personally allow the market to decide what sells, what is important over-all - to be the end-all-be-all decider instead of vocal extreme views that may desire to force a view using cherry picking data points.

The key is there is choice and as long as there is competition and levels of differentiation, trying to out work each other -- pretty happy!

That would be pretty amazing actually. I'd rather have that than games that I may or may not play. Give me the choice and I'd be happier.

Case in point, for 2 7950s I bought, the Crysis 3 and Bioshock codes were pointless for me because I don't intend on playing those games. Only good thing was that I could sell them, reducing the price of the cards.

Yes, in those 3 games [H] has the 670 faster. I prefer something with more benches though.

There's no perfect review. More data though gives a clearer picture. By more data I mean taking [H]'s review and TPU and additional reputable sites, discounting the outliers.

FFS, the 7950 boast is just an overclocked 7950, the 670 can also overclock!

Will just baited and humped the leg of a fellow member all in the same post. Awesome.

Only took 2 replies for Arkadrel to go off topic and turn it into a pissing match. Shocking.

So, what should you take from this post? The VC&G forum is both awesome and shocking, sarcasm aside of course.

I'm not in the market for a new card, but if I was, I'd much prefer rebates to game bundles. Hope to see more deals like the Asus 660 that was $170AR a couple days ago...

Sweet post mate!..LOL;)

If you're gonna go down that path...I say the 7950 overclocks more than a 670...so it's faster. We're back to that "OCed cards in reviews" argument.

Regardless if the 7950 Boost is just an OCed 7950, the OC is guaranteed from the vendor, just like OCed 670s are. Wouldn't you rather have a guaranteed OC?

Well, this is true, however its already been stated the 7950 is NOT faster than 670 with latest drivers....at stock.....and OC doesnt help longevity anyway, so I wouldnt be doing extreme clocking on either.

I've read all the posts here and I can't say whether the 7950 OC or the 670 is faster, but I'd wager it's within 10% either way.

The issue is that the 7950 cost me $270 and after selling bioshock/crysis and the associated fees, its a net $220.

Even the cheapest 670 out there is $130 more. I think this is the OP's point: how can nvidia make the 670 more attractive to people like me? If there was a gaming bundle that was equally valuable and made the difference between the cards closer to $60, it would have been a competitive choice, given nvidia's superior drivers, physx and my own preference/history.

But a $220 7950 vs a $350 gtx 670....the choice was made for me.

That cooler was horrible. At least for that price or less you can get a reference 7950 with unlocked voltage, or even a TF3 when they go on sale... and Crysis 3 and Bioshock. Chances are the 7950 will be cheaper than the ever so rare occasions that the 670 is even under $340.

If you want to make the GTX 670 model more marketable.. Sell the 4gb model at the same prices as the 2gb model and offer free games. 2gb on high end should be EOL and standard on mid range. For my main rig, I personally will no longer touch anything 2gb.

The ftp bundle sells 40 -50 as well (I don't understand why people continually fail to note that). I you take the cheapest 670 at $300 (the crappy pny) then you are at $250-$260. a TF3 costs $310. I bought a 670gtx OC for $340 $30 diff there for what I consider equal quality.
Point being gap is not as big as people keep making it out. It definitely isn't $100+ dollars.

Where can you get the 670 for $300?

So you reduce the money from selling AMD bundle but dont do the same for nv? ..........

nVidia's bundle was a piece of crap lol. The last good bundle they had was the one with AC3.

That piece of crap was selling for 40-50 bucks on ebay until VERY recently when it's gone down to about 35.

I liked both bundles but the one from nVidia was interesting based on the popularity of the free-to-play model but personally preferred AMD's -- very impressive titles.

Don't know how the market as a whole was effected by the bundles and how much they translated into more sales for the companies.
