i honestly dont think banning is the answer for quite a few reasons,.....

for 1,.i dont think nvidia outreach program is an entirely bad idea,.. think of what it could evolve into once its accepted to the public,.. the public imo,..could benefit from it greatly

and secondly i think the video forums in general needs regular moderation and to be expanded into sub categorie's(if you must make a rule that members asociated directly with nvidia must stay in the nvidia video section, and ati to ati section etc,if it has to be that way),i feel regular moderation is the key ingredient,..along with an obvious increase in maturity and respect, because until then,.. dont expect squat different,..and it wont matter who you ban

and last, people dont wanna let go of the feeling they get attacking rollo imo,i mean,.. you all rant LIE's!,..LIE's!!,..the horror! ban the devil! ban the devil!,.lol..but its like he came clean when imo,. he didnt really HAVE to,..example:nvidia and aeg are in,and affect rollo's real life correct?,...is there anyone here in rollo's real life?... or affect anything involving such?,...prolly not,...so which would be the priority in your life?,... real life,..or any of us...but...for 58 pages that man stood here and got his ass beat down into the ground by alot of you guys,..and it took him about 55 of those before he couldnt take it anymore, does that sound like someone who doesnt give a sh!t?.he didnt run away like a weasel...he admitted it,..put it in his sig..and you guys kicked the cr@p out of him,...lol

K.O. man,... K.O.! ....a record thread on thrashing rollo,..id say he got his punishment,i vote for ban not necessary

same here, i respect the fact that he came out and admitted his affiliation with AEG, that took b@lls IMO, knowing the kind of reaction and scrutiny he would face. honestly i'm tired of the flaming and personal attacks, it's getting old.

first of all, nVidia outreach is awesome . . . we just ask for the "hidden manipulation" to stop. Just be "upfront" is all we ask. Adhere to the Word of Marketing Draft Code of Ethics.

better moderation? . . . of course . . .
but this is not what this thread is about.

did he "have to" come clean?

evidently. Rhere was at least an agreement between AEG-nVidia-"the Focus Group [of which Rollo evicently is the "leader"] to have some kind of "disclosure".

Did you notice that FOUR members of that group came forward all at about the SAME time? . . . evidently in response to AEG's direction 😉

Someone had to "take the bullet" for his company in an attempt at Damage Control - to "explain" what their Guerilla Marketing Programme is about.

that someone at AT was Rollo. it's just 'business' and a cover for AEG/nVidia's further hidden manipulaton.

in an effort to minimize damage, Rollo let it slip that there are STILL 2 more undisclosed AEG moles in his focus group . . . therefore probably more. 😉

what he has done is banworthy - many times over. . . . but it is not my decision . . . ATF has yet to announce it

funny thing is what if rollo did not come forward, would you still be calling for a "ban"? i see he's not the most popular guy in video community and sometimes i can see why, but before he announced his affiliation with AEG, i'm pretty sure no one would be calling for a ban, just the usual he's a "troll, fanboy,...etc." he's been flamed enough, let him be...other power's will decide his fate.
my thing is any member in this community can rant and rave all day about how great product A is compared to product B, but in the end i feel if i do the research, i myself will make the final decision if product A is better than product B.

Actually there were a few threads in FI about him being banned. I recall that it happened at least 5 times... Sadly, only two of them were legit users. The rest were just flamers. But still many people didn't want him banned because having an opinion is one thing, but having a paid opinion and not disclosing it is another... No one wants him banned because he prefers nVidia. That has nothing to do with it... Stop playing "dumb" people.

no one is playing "dumb", honestly did Rollo have any influence on the purchase of your 7800gtx, or did you make that decision yourself? i'm guessing it's the later...

again you are OT . . .

we are not discussin g"what ifs" or supposed "influence"

We are talking about Rollo's hidden agenda sponsored by AEG that abused forum members and incited flame and FUD . . . for years.

and Rollo has been Warned - temp banned before - for 2 weeks i believe.

thanks for the FYI, i didn't know he was banned before....but other members on this forum have done the same thing even if they weren't being "paid". i never said Rollo was a saint and hasn't done anything wrong, but this thread has turned into a bash/flame fest, and has gotten way out of hand.

Seems viral adverising is considered very cost effective and we likely haven't seen the end of it.

Ok, now *THIS* is interesting:

I interviewed for a guerilla marketing business in San Francisco that targeted web forums.

I was told that if I accepted the job, I was to have at LEAST 50 identities on as many forums as I could muster (they wanted 100 eventually), with a goal of 5 posts an hour. The posts had to be well thought out, and the idea was that I was to establish multiple identities with a history on the forums, so that when the timing was right a well written but subtly placed marketing post could be finessed in. And regular visitors would recognize the post as coming from a long time poster.

That's coming from someone looking to get a job similar to what Rollo has. So, if you can imagine, if they're each on 5 boards, they have 10 aliases per board. If there are 2 more "people" working for AEG here, then there are potentially 30 aliases from AEG on here!

I'm pretty sure that Rollo is a full-time shill.

Rappers make a living over dissing. Rollo is essentially a grey-market con-man. He should keep in mind that every bite of food he takes, he is chewing on his own fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Every frame that his overglorified GTX renders is generated by his nonsense. I hope he can sleep at night.

And what I don't understand is why some people keep posting defending Rollo and/or the AEG agenda... I don't care how big an nVidia fan someone is, this form of advertising, media control/manipulation, FUD, or whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-call-it is repugnant.

There really is no excuse for that kind of blatant back room grab-assing that nVidia, AEG, and Rollo & Company have been dealing in. If that kind of activity and conduct isn't ban-worthy, then nothing is.

Amen to that, I don't think I will ever buy an nVidia card again.

Guess that possibly explains Wreckage and a few other choice pro-Rollo individuals of varying intensity...

i agree . . . it has got out of hand - but not so radical for Video nor for Rollo's betrayal of trust -

it is important enough that the Mods want to keep it Open for people to vent [before they reach a decision and it is then locked].

Just a FYI . . . if people STOPped DEFENDING Rollo, then the attacks on him would drop off . . . sure a bitter few would keep 'bumping' it, but the momentium would be lost. 😉

This is an issue that should be disscussed, and he should be flamed. Do you honestly want such a manipulative and fake person on these forums?

what makes people think ATI employees, ATI affiliates or family members of ATI employees dont post in any hardware website forums?

morph is very pro ATI similar to rollo, but opposite company.

I think it's pretty fair to assume that the trolls who don't have their profile enabled are "clones" of Rollo or another agent.

They can't possibly keep track of a full background story (address, wife, job, family) for 100 different people. That's especially true if people start asking specific questions about the area they "live" in. They probably have a system down, i.e.:

Wreckage = cruel and unusual
beggerking = young and inexperienced

The list goes on. Just a few general personality characteristics are enough to cover up what they're doing.

My guess is that between 5 and 10 "members" here are Rollo-clones. Just food for thought.

good point...but so many people are caught up in NV/AEG/Rollo...

hmm, who claimed otherwise? 😕 Topic is Nvidia/AEG's viral marketing exposed.

Its very sad, the last place on the internet where you thought you could get a peer opinion has been infiltrated by corporate shills, promoting their product, regardless if it is the best one.

Soon they'll be beaming product promotions into our dreams or subconciously

So someone has a an 8 hour a day job posting on forums? Sit at your desk drinking a beer, reply to a few posts and collect a check? Like a real job? with a 401K, bennys, and sick leave? Just for being a shill? If someone tells me it pays 80K a year I'm going to blow a gasket.

You could probably figure out what state they were in, or even down to the city.

Isn't it possible to spoof an IP pretty easily though? I'm pretty sure they can even spoof multiple IP's off a single cable connection...

Just an FYI, you can easily view the profile of any user even without the profile/button being enabled.

Guess that possibly explains Wreckage and a few other choice pro-Rollo individuals of varying intensity...

It would be easy for a "Clone" member to post in other parts of a forum to build up a "post count" mearly by bumping For Sale Trade threads, OT threads, ect., late at nite like I have witnessed here just to bring their member status up. Then pipe in to their real members defence durring debate and also start new FUD threads.

But I think that it would be hard to keep 50 "clone" members going at once. That would be a full-time job. I guess you could check to see if some of the suspects around here have heatware, or something to indicate they are computer nerds and really excist.

I have a real job, wife and 2 kids. Even if I wanted to, I don't have time to post like the AEG member does.

The AEG member posts all the time, spread through the day. If I would do that, my employer would fire me and my wife ask for a divorce. Reading all and posting like that is almost like a job - it consumes time!

If one dedicates soo much time to this, he is problably a kid or student. I've mentioned that before, but it is hard to proof.

The thread the AEG member wrote during a Saturday evening while being "drunk" gave that away IMO.

That would explain also other things....like writing styling and maturity.

I am pretty sure also he has already a second nickname here. It is one of his bodyguards - there is one always defending him, just like he defends Nvidia - regardless if he is right or wrong.

Just my 2 cents - from the guy that has a "secret agenda" for complaining about shimmering.

Our known AEG rabid zombie starts FUD threads. I have yet to see one from Morph, though there might of been one once to counter three or so FUD threads our AEG rep started.

And our rep even tried his FUD prctices in the motherboard forum for extra AEG points. Cancerous stuff this AEG practice.

Heatware would help with that, but I, like many others have no heatware, I've never used it, & couldn't say if I would in the future. I'd like to consider myself a pretty REAL computer nerd, and have been going through gear like water for years now.

I'm more interested if AT mods or admins could check IP addresses of posting members & cross reference with known AEG members. Seems like it would be a quick way to ferret out clones.
