If you can't create (coding or art), go into quality assurance. I guess that's one way to get into the gaming business. I find it amusing that he badmouthed EA Games and said he'd never put his name on anything of theirs. Look at the Sony crap he's worked on...

Star Wars Galaxies... failure
PlanetSide... failure
Everquest II... not a very good game, being spanked by WoW

I hope that you aren't implying that QA is in any way shape or form less important, creative or challenging than slinging code, modeling, texturing or writing. I used to be a coder back in the day, and still churn some out on the occasional contract. To me, *good* QA people and testers are worth their weight in Unobtanium.

To his credit, these games weren't known to be bugfests at release. Borefests, maybe. But how is that the fault of testers/QA people? It's not like you can log issues like 'this game blows greasy green gopher gut globs, I wouldn't play it if you paid me' from the QA end.

I think for the most part they have been outing themselves.

EDIT: I only posted what I did about relating to Ronin (his name is in his profile) because he made it a guessing game and the sooner the guessing ended, the sooner we can get back on topic:

ROLLO and others of his ilk

NV is harvesting what they seeded.
how much do you think this will effect their bottom line?

i think it cost Perez a few martinis after work, rollo's credibility (for lying) and very few customers.

I dont know what NV was thinking. This is just plain stupid. Everything bad will come back and kick you in your ass. That's just life.

I don't know. It appears to be bigger than driver cheating. I guess.

There's a fine line between arrogance and confidence. You should learn the difference between the two.

i agree, morph comes across overly biased toward red, and seems to refuse to say or hear anything good about other companies other than ATi

i class him as a fanboy, i therefore ignore his posts.

No it doesn't. Rise is right, NV lost and will lose absolutely *nothing*. Enthusiasts will continue evaluating hardware by doing research. Others will buy into marketing, which is why many e-tailers sort video cards by amount of on-board ram vs. GPU potency.

They lost nothing, but may be a few nublets were convinced to buy a 5800 Ultra over a 9800Pro or something. End win: NV.

besides the 'black eye', you mean?

well . .
. . . i think someone at nVidia will lose their job . . . AEG will lose their contract with nVidia and Rollo will get banned. ;)

and this forum will shift pro-ATi and nVidia will definitely lose some sales

does that cover it?

Being a fan is OK. There are many football fans that live from Sunday to Sunday. As long as you know who they are and what color they are. :)

But lying for freebies. I think it's wrong.

I don't suppose they took into account all the personal attacks and other over-the-top fanboy nonsense by employees like Rollo. Now that they have ordered their shills to out themselves and try to persuade us they are really only hardware beta testers there is hell to pay for the lies that brought them to this point.

I'm not gonna cry too hard for Rollo when he is gone because he will still have his high-dollar videocards to soak up his tears. Too bad he wasn't much of a gamer... it seems a pity they threw all that hardware at someone who only cared about benchmark scores and fanboy crap instead of really using it and enjoying it for something other than bragging rights.

I guess Earl was right... karma exists! :D

we'll see :)

as you stated before, nv is moving their viral marketing position in-house so that would appear to be a lock.

everything else remains to be seen.

edit- oops, forgot the rollo ban or self exile is guaranteed in my eyes.

I believe they will lose some sales as the result. I have 4 PC's with 2 NV cards and 2 ATI. NV won't get my money for some time I am sure.

I don't care if these forums shift mostly pro-ATI or pro-nVidia. Just get rid of the rabid fanboys (hint hint mods).

For what it's worth, I think Ronin is actually pretty fair handed as far as his comments go. I don't get too much that he's pushing one company or another. Everyone's going to be a little biased one way or another, I just don't feel he has an agenda to push unlike the AEG folks.

If he does work for Sony and was involved in EQ. OMFG, you guys slowly butchered that game after taking over from Verant. EQ2 was ok...but it was kinda bland to be honest. It didn't seem to have that magnet that just sucks one into the game. I haven't played WoW at all though my brother does. Concentrating on real life, most likely going to give Vanguard a shot. Never going to play any game as much as I used to in my early 20's though. Had some fun times in EQ, had some great experiences and some crap ones. Met some great people (who I keep in contact with in real life) and met some real a-holes. Kinda like real life in a way I guess. RIP Rodcet Nife.

Are you kidding? If getting a 5800 Ultra and several 7800GTs in return for having to make a few new forum identities is karma, I'll take a double helping.
