I really think this merits a ban for Rollo. Man, what an asshole.

Sort of a contradiction there, eh, Einstein? Should they ban you too? ;)

No. They should unban Turtle and ban YOU.

I agree.

No, I think you are taking his comment out of context. After typing the second sentence he probably looked at the pop up p0rn and typed the third sentence. :D

LOL

I don't usually respond to your childish prattle, but since a few other seem to share your "well reasoned opinions"

You, and no one here, is in a position to "punish" me. It's pretty funny you're ignorant enough to think a "crime" has been committed and some "authorities" will "put things to right", but the fact of the matter is we're allowed to pretty much speak our minds no matter what our motivation.

You are free to speculate about my motivations, and I am free to laugh at you spending hours of your time scurrying around doing so.

Derek Perez, AEG, myself and others have told you what you all seem so desparate to know about their beta testing/focus group program.

What did you do? Go back to your own assinine assumptions about it's nature. The only way you would have accepted what we said as the truth is if it would have matched your preconceptions.

Given what happened after telling you what the deal is, who can blame me for not wanting to tell you what the deal is?

i believe you will find otherwise. i would like to see you banned from AT, but the decision is not mine.

At the very least, this will follow you EVERYWHERE you will go. . . . you have been branded as a shill, a FUD master, troll and liar. Everyone now knows that you "sold out" for some [pretty] HW.

and this will affect nVidia . . . at least for a time. . . . They are arrogant as you are. Hopefullly they will get sued. . . . and this Viral Marketing made illegal.

And you are noting more that a Puppet, manipulated by your AEG masters to mouth their marketing and spin FUD against their competitor.

Consequences?

i think so. ;)

LOL some more!

Oh yes Apoppin' the GREAT DAY OF RECKONING is coming where the Congress will pass laws and make it illegal to post your opinion of a video card someone gave you!

There's one problem with your whole "theory" about this "following me everywhere"? Where's it going to "follow" me? Do you think IRL people care if someone gave me a video card or two and I posted that I liked it without giving equal time to their competitors?
LMAO! Yeah, right!

Dude, you are so lame it's not funny. :(
firstly, you got THOUSANDS of dollars in free HW . . . i'd call it a bribe . . . secondly, all of your posts are Anti-ATI FUD . . . the evidence adds up ;)

you are also a self-confessed liar.

i think we should make a thread about you in F.I. asking for your permanent ban - along with investigating your ISP and all alternate accounts you post here with.

Secondly, you "style' of posting will always give you away . . . any Video HW forum will recognize you just as easily as we recognize Intelia/Turtle/Zinn2b /XTX4U

unless AT itself is involved with nVidia/AEG, or nVidia's lawyers really do ride to you rescue, i'd say you are a lost cause here . . . and might as well be gone . . . if you manage to stay you are gonna get flamed in EVERY post.

yes . . consequences

edit: btw, i am not gonna make that F.I. thread . . .if someone else does, i'll 'second' it, however. ;)

How could anyone? He has lied repeatedly about this. Now he's trying to make light of the situation and shrug it off as nothing. It's despicable.

I truly hope you get what's coming to you.

There's one "slight" problem with that Chief. As the only one here who has seen the correspondence between me and nVidia/AEG, I know they never asked me to market anything.

It's not against the law to post your opinions about things you were given, or sold at a discount.

And I hope you grow up and realize that a few people getting a few free cards and some beta drivers and patches isn't much of a "crime" in the world we live in.

Rollo's credibility is gone (for those who believed him), the topic of this thread is Nvidia's viral marketing with AEG.

You can start up a thread in F.I. about Rollo.

a "few free cards" . . . err . . . THOUSANDS of dollars of HW :Q

and it is NOT "your opinion" . . . it is nVidia's marketing and advertising for which [i assume] AT was not paid.

I hate this type of viral marketing. If you're affiliated with a company, it should be disclosed when you are giving advice. How many people would have taken a second look between cards if they knew someone like Rollo was getting free stuff from nVidia? How many people were swayed by his lies? People spend lots of money on video cards and might not have bought nVidia cards except for shills like him pimping a product.

Now, I have in private suspected him of being affiliated with a program like what AEG runs. It was mostly in the way he responds to people in his posts. Lots of little things that don't really add up for anyone that truly is impartial. Like how he always knew of flaws in ATI cards, it's software, or in ATI the company itself, yet he's never there when a problem arises with nVidia stuff. Or how he ignores points in discussions that doesn't paint nVidia in a good light but will tackle points that does paint nVidia in a good light. There's many other little things and I won't list them all. Let's also not forget he has an old college buddy who just happens to works for nVidia.

I didn't realize that people were banned from AT for accusing Rollo of being with AEG. Now that it's come out that he IS with AEG, he owes each and every one of those that were banned an apology. His lies got them banned from a forum they would probably still be members of if not for him.

I'm not here to brand Rollo as some demon. To me, this is not a witch hunt aimed at him. I can't even take the moral high ground and say I would not be tempted into signing up with this type of program. He's human just like the rest of us. That doesn't mean I like what he did.

I just find that this type of marketing is dishonest and reprehensible. I think everyone involved with the program knew it was not the right thing to do, which is why there is an NDA against revealing there was even such a program in exhistence. If there is nothing wrong with this type of marketing or that they thought the public was ok with it, why was there a freaking NDA against even revealing such a marketing program was in exhistence?

It's kind of telling that nVidia's PR deptartment ignored repeated requests for information from the Consumerist on what their agreement with AEG was and if there was a viral marketing campain going on until forced to do so. It seems to me that there still isn't full disclosure on nVidia's & AEG's marketing program and this is all damage control. nVidia knew things were getting leaked to the public and they couldn't keep the AEG thing a secret anymore so they opted for "disclosure" and do some damge control rather than make it a larger PR blackeye than it already is.

The following is a fictional story and any relation to any real person is purely coincidental.

Rolloid: You want answers?

Apop: I think I'm entitled to them.

Rolloid: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has advertising. And some of that marketing is guerilla marketing done by greedy men w/ expensive SLI rigs. Who?s gonna do it? You? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Turtle and curse the Guerilla Marketers. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that?s Turtle?s ban, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives? You don?t want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don?t talk about at parties, you want me doing guerrilla marketing. You need me. We use words like honor, objectivity, unbiased opinions? we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use?em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor inclinations to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very DECEPTION I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it!! I?d rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up an SLI 7800GTX rig and stand a post. Either way, I don?t give a damn what you think you?re entitled to!

Apop: Did you order the code red on ATI?

Rolloid: (quietly) I did the job they (Guerrilla Marketers) sent me to do.

Apop: Did you order the code red on ATI?

Rolloid: You?re goddam right I DID!!

I agree with all of that stuff except the part about branding Rollo. His attacks on me were simply unbelievable to me at the time at which point I studied him and determined that he was indeed part of this AEG marketing program.

I was told in private that I might be banned for claiming him to be part of AEG and was publicly called fanboy, childish, etc, etc... we all know Rollo's line of BS.

Now that he openly admits to being in that program I think it's time for his head to roll on out the door.

nVidia giving a few guys some cards and drivers/patches and saying "Try this stuff out. Tell us if you have problems with it" is a little different.

My first time through college I knew a pretty girl liquor companies would pay to hang around in bars drinking their product. Not quite the same thing, but it was no secret and I ran into her last year walking around free. Heavens to betsy! Maybe the liquor girls are the next in the big house cleaning that's a comin'!

Comparing yourself to chicks giving away drinks is just stupid.

I think a better analogy would be to compare yourself to a chick giving out viruses.

you are a master spinner . . . AEG/nVidia trains their monkeys well.

and you have been in a position to influence people in their HW buys . . . at the very LEAST you lack ethics . . . you DO realize that viral marketing may soon be illegal.

you were paid BIG BUCKS . . . not a "few cards and some patches" to post FUD . . . in effect you ADVERTISED here.

No, I'm just an adult with some common sense.

Really? What postion is that? Anonymous poster on a message board? I wasn't aware of the message board poster's fiduciary responsibility? I thought we were all just hobbyists posting our opinions?

. . . at the very LEAST you lack ethics . . .
How so? Because I didn't tell you some of the video cards I got were free? Didn't realize that was your business?

you DO realize that viral marketing may soon be illegal.
If it is, and what I'm doing is ever defined as "viral marketing" in a court of law, I'll stop?

you were paid BIG BUCKS
Errr...
A. Not one penny cash
B. I got a few free cards to evaluate? I don't know constitutes "big bucks" in your world, but a couple of video cards is not "big bucks" among most adults I know.

. . . not a "few cards and some patches" to post FUD
No one asked me to post anything?

. . . in effect you ADVERTISED here.
Errr, says you?
