The 2080Ti is so hideously overpriced at $1100-1200 that I'm not sure the improvements that a Super card will bring will make it palatable.

But I guess anything is possible.

Who cares? I mean the price of the rtx2080ti is absurd, 5% more performance won't change anything. Hopefully AMD is able to bring something good to the table in a few months and compete with Nvidia, or we are stuck with these awful, absurd prices. The RTX 2080ti shouldn't cost more than $700.

I did some quick shopping $999 and 2 free games is the best price on a decent 2080ti.
$740 and 2 free games for a 2080 super.

Checked out the specs of the 2080ti super, should be about 10% faster for the same $999 as a 2080ti.
But as always, the 2080S, 2080ti and 2080ti(S) are the 3 fastest gaming cards in the world, they demand a premium.

If there was some competition, 3 cards as fast as a 2080S,2080ti and 2080ti S, and we now have a 5700xt slower than a 2070S for $420, how do you think it would be priced?
5700xt $420
5800xt vs 2070super for $500.
5900xt for $649 as fast as a 2080super.
Then the top AMD 5950xt for
$849 just slower than a $999 2080ti.
So if you want that performance AMD cards will be just as pricey.
Just a slight better value.

I'd rather just pay a little extra for that type of speed for the past year, why wait to save 75 to $100 for the same performance a year later.

If the 2080 Ti super was a good deal better than the current 2080 Ti cards AND came at a lower price, I would consider jumping on it for under $900. I would also want to make sure it would have a smoother launch and better QA regarding the "space invader" issues.

From Nvidia probably Q2 2020, from AMD we just got their latest generation in Navi, it should be a month or so before they announce their other sku's with availability in few months.

Where?

I can't get a new 2080 Ti for $999. 2080 Ti prices could easily drop to that level if/when NV finally releases a Super variant of the card, but I doubt the Super would go for such a low sum.

5700xt $420

???

Doesn't exist, might not until next year.

Also doesn't exist, probably not until next year.

See above. AMD's top-end Navi next year is supposed to be faster than 2080 Ti. I doubt we'll see anything faster than the 5700XT soon. They have low-end cards to release next.

2080ti 's are/were on newegg with promo codes, mabe PC partspicker doesn't account for that.

Looks like those promos are gone. Or they aren't advertised in the product finder. You might have had one from a promotion email? It can collate some of that data, but not all of it. The code needs to appear somewhere on the page.

Interestingly enough, there are a LOT of refurbs (with no game codes of course). Hmm wonder where those came from . . . heh.

If true, then Nvidia may be expecting something from AMD that may be close to the Ti in performance. 5800 or whatever it may be.

-Yep, I can only see this as good news. It either means NV needs to compete against itself or compete against AMD's big Navi and sweeten the high end pot a bit with a more performant 2080Ti.

I can definitely see the former because as is there is not *that* much sunlight between the 2080 super and the 2080Ti.

Probably, yeah.

I like both companies' positions here. Nvidia seems to have a lot of performance capability up their sleeves, but AMD seem to have the price-point winners.

AMD already have an unopposed near-high-end $349 card with the 5700 (unless you consider the 2060 its competition, which isn't a bad idea, but then the 5700 is still faster than it), and the clear winner at the $399 price point with the 5700XT over the 2060S. If they can push a 5800XT faster than the 2070S, and a 5900XT faster than the 2080S, at the same price points, and market it appropriately, I think they'll do really well.

For now they seem to be comparing their cards to Nvidia cards that are faster, and hoping people like the short-changing BS where you say, "we're offering a 5% slower card for 10% less money." But I don't think laymen gamers are buying that. AMD need to say, "We have the fastest card at $399, the fastest card at $499, and the fastest card at $599" and for them, also "the fastest card at $199, and $249, and $299." And then Nvidia need to get off their behinds and prove AMD wrong.

I'm pretty doubtful of higher end AMD cards before next year, and I definitely wouldn't read that out of Nvidia's actions here. They've been taking a LOT of heat for their prices and pushing RTX. I think like the lower super cards this is kinda a readjustment of the perf/$ ratio to make their stuff a little more palatable. And with regards to the 2080Ti, could be they had to do a respin just to fix the issues that were happening and so a Super version just made sense. There's clearly people that would've gladly paid up for even the 2080Ti at its ridiculous price, but many of them were left out when they got dud cards. I have a hunch plenty of them will buy in for a 2080Ti Super that offers a bit better performance, no Space Invaders, and for less money.

Also, it'd be great for all the kiddos wanting to run Minecraft RTX.

I'd get more excited if I didn't think it would be priced similar to the 2080Ti. If I sell my 1080Ti for ~$400, that means I would pay $600-800 for 40-50% more performance. Not even close to being worth it for me.

Still, depending on pricing, it will still be a plus for consumers vs the current 2080Ti.

If you look at past history after the release of the 2080ti super, AMD will release 2 higher end cards and place the performance between the 2070 super and 2080 super and between the 2080super and 2080ti and will charge about $550 and $750 for these cards. AT this time Nvidia would have sold to the bulk of their customers and as usual they will lower the price of these cards by at least $50.
This will happen 1st quarter next year in reaction to the higher end Navi cards release and in preparation for new 7nm Nvidia cards next year in August/ September.

So if you somehow think holding out for another 4 to 6 months to buy the 5800 or 5900 is worth it, you are mistaken. You should have just bought a 2070 or 2080 at release and you would have that performance for 16 months now and only paid like $100 more. On top of that , 6 months after AMD releases the 5800/5900 Nvidia will have cards that make the 5800/5900 look mid range .
Your getting what you pay for whether you buy Nvidia or AMD, the difference is do you want to spend $100 more early and actually use that performance for over a year or wait for the same performance a little cheaper with AMD over a year later.

just food for thought about high prices..

Honestly I do not think you're right here. AMD is going to release some cheaper Navi products soon, and . . . that's probably it. Their next shot is at beating the 2080Ti. And that will take some time. It might even be a 7nm+ EUV product. Raja isn't there anymore, so they don't have as much smack talk for us about how NV will be humiliated etc etc. Poor Turing/Ampere blah blah blah. I sort of miss the smack talk though. Raja is a trip.

I agree some slower cards will be released, but I generally don't follow low end cards.
While there might be some gamers @ 1080p next year, anything slower than a 1660ti will be lower end and to me ,not a true gaming card in 2020. Next year this time the Nvidia 3060 ,with a full node change to 7nm, will be at least as fast as a 1080ti/Navi 5700xt ,even the consoles will be doing true 4k ,60fps with Ray tracing next year, 4k TV's are dirt cheap now and 1080p will phase out quickly.

WHo knows mabe the lower end will be dominated by Intel GPU's in late 2020?

Intel to the rescue with Raja and the Xe line.

I remember you adoring and pushing the GTX 960 models for a very long time.

Do you mean you just use and recommend lower end cards but, don't follow them, or is it convenient to assume this position now?
