The ATi card gives me control over my dual monitors that Nvidia just didn't. I love the way the ATi card handles it.

more control....like no ogl acceleration across 2 monitors, no horizontal/vertical spanning

i think i'm becoming a fanboy.....someone smack me

Since ATi's driver team is so great and all, does anyone know if they will ever get around to fixing Sacrifice? It's been over a year and a half now with drivers that have massive image corruption in the game, I'd like to play a few rounds but sadly ATi's 'class leading driver team' can't fix a single bug in nineteen months.

Same....cept it's a Ti4400 here...but still, it's not a driver issue that I can see.

ATI Drivers > Nvidia Drivers

FS2004
COD
Horizons
BF:Vietnam
Halo

All had issues with ATI drivers out of the box.

I think ATI has a ways to go yet.

It really must suck to spend $400 on a video card and be scared of it crashing your system. And its even scarier if you're dumb enough to leave any potentially vital "work" open when you start running other intensive applications. Don't forget all the ATI people that had issues with Call of Duty when it came out and how ATI had to scramble to put out a fix. Its even happening again with Pandora Tomorrow and Far Cry. Jeeze, that sucks.

- not many sites even do driver reviews. :Q

Who said you should take my word as the final authority? Something wrong with not liking ATI and their half assed drivers? I've made equally valid points, none of which you have acknowledged because appearantly, ATI is god.

Rent, no ofense, but you are a complete ignorant of cat drivers. Ati's 3d control panel is VERY EASY to use, and now when you change settings monitor stays as it should. I have used both drivers (Nvidia and Ati) and have no complains about them. None of them are perfect and each has it's cons but both are very well built. Ati has even taken the lead and releases a driver per month, which is a really good for us. Farcry has no problems and works in PS2 instead of PS1.1 as Fx does. Only problem is when u turn AA/AF on and they are to fix it soon.

About your experience with 9800Pro LOL!!!!!! 24hours?????? What kind of tester are you? You can't say it was bad in such short period. Nvidia is working less in releases and also has issues. So what's your point? 24 hours of testing or being a fanboy?

Yes Nvidias drivers now suck. I've been running the same geforce4400 for what, 2 years now? Only had to upgrade drivers a couple times and nothing much ever changed. When I started running the GF4400 the drivers were "awesome1@!@!@$" but now they suck and yet I have seen very little difference.

My point being the drivers havn't changed, your stance or perspective has changed and you decided to post about how you've jumped the fence as if it is some sort of achievement. Congrats.

Its windows, not NVIDIA drivers.

So enjoy doing it again later, and all the new games not working on release before a magic patch. ;)

nVidia left a bad taste in my mouth with my TnT2 Ultra. I never could get Half-Life to run properly with it. Seems nVidia's drivers had major issues in D3D. And OGL was a disaster. Wow, remember that? nVidia used to be the bastard child of drivers back in the days of 3dfx superiority. Granted, 3dfx had glide, but man it was superior.

That TnT2 was the only nVidia card I ever purchased. Since then I've had (and still have) an 8500DV, 9500p and a 9800p which I haven't any problems with at all. I may buy nVidia again, but right now I'm happy with ATI.

Nvidia, please make drivers that don't suck.

With a title like that, where else is it supposed to go?

I never had any problems with my nVidia drivers.
Why do they suck exactly?

Anyway, I guess your problem is not a driver issue. It seems to be a Windows issue.

When I was using an ATI 9600, I missed the nVidia drivers. I also enjoy the features in the 56.56 drivers that many others think are 'bloat'. It's all up to personal preference.

I'm still using Nvidia hardware precisely because of the great drivers. I?ve been using their stuff since the fall of ?97 or ?98 when the TNT1 came out, and aside from the first few releases the first month, I?ve never had trouble.

I guess my only complaint is that the newer Nvidia drivers seem to have broken System Shock 2 on XP (I say that because a friend says it runs on his 9800pro), so I guess it?s not XP per se. But I?ve heard of a lot more games being broken on ATi?s drivers so?

And with the VPU recovery thing, I?ve never had a situation with an Nvidia card where it would have helped. Not once. Driver reviews for the CATs almost always add a line like ?but of course this isn?t necessary on Nvidia?s hardware?. So claming it?s a missing feature for Nvidia is silly.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm glad ATi has finally started giving Nvidia competition, but I don't see how anyone can claim ATis drivers are better or equal to Nvidia's, even though they are much better than they were a year and a half ago.

Based on their personal experience perhaps? Like the OP, it doesn't matter whether you are using ATI, Nvidia, Matrox or whatever....if YOU have the issue on YOUR rig...they suck.

I upgraded from a GeForce 3 Ti200 to a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra. I didnt even uninstall the drivers as an experiment. I installed my 5900 and and it booted right up, so I decided to try and play a game. WHOA, Call of Duty started right up and I played an entire map. Then later on, I flashed my FX bios to a 5950. Again, you "should" re-install the drivers. Id dint, it detected the 5950 and Voila, started playing AGAIN, ALL with a re-install, ever! But I have since upgraded to 56.64 though, these were the 53.03's. How's that for driver performance :)

Everytime I see an ATI user upgrading, and they have problems, they say things like "re-install the drivers" or "oh, download driver cleaner", or oh, even better "you should re-install WINDOWS!"

Insane3D... wow you're a hypocrite fanboy and a half.
Bullsh!t. Spoken like someone who doesn't use ATI's drivers much. How are Nvidias "more funtional" and "better layed out". Pray tell all knowing one.

Edit:

I can't believe it! I'm so surprised!! You run an Nvidia card!

Sounds like your opinion. ATI has always had the edge in dual monitor setups, and it took Nvidia quite awhile just to start making dual monitors an option on their cards. Between the Catalyst drivers and Hydravision, it's pretty much universally accepted that ATI has the upper hand here. Oh wait...but you say no...gotcha.
But you say ATI drivers are better, but most everyone else disagrees with you, we should take your word as the final authority? I made valid arguments to each of your points, and that is all you can come up with?

Seriously, ati hydravision is nothing special, I seriously doubt you have even used dual monitors on an nvidia card from that statement. NVIDIA has like 2000x more features for dual monitors than ATI, who the hell are you kidding?
Yeah try spanning videos across two monitors on ATI, try running games across dual monitors on ATI. Go figure
rolleye.gif
.
btw here's a pic of my 21" dual monitor goodness on my gffx5900

I miss the dual monitor features I had on my geforcefx that I don't get with the 9800pro I'm running now :(
