So on Micron, "bps" actually means bits per second per pin. Just so happens that the value in b/s/pin is the same as that in T/s.

For me: to get memory bandwidth, multiply bits per transfer (bus width) and transfer rate. For GeForce GTX 1080 Ti: (352 b/T)(11 GT/s) = 3872 Gb/s = 484 GB/s.

Sorry, just some off-topic rambling.... Websites are all over the place for the units of memory rate: bps, T/s, and Hz: sometimes the actual frequency in Hz (1250 MHz for 10 GT/s GDDR5X) and sometimes not ("5000" MHz).
 
I wonder if the next Ti card will come in at $750. I'm starting to wonder if I'm not a frog in slightly warmer water than I was in last time.

Haha, i know that feeling! But 980TI was incredible purchase for me, and extra 60-70 EUR cannot change the value of 1080 TI for me. But yeah, water is definitely getting boiled, x80 card increased from 550 to 600, now 650->700 move for x80 TI card...

This came in with a lower price than I expected. Guess NV's bean counters figured a more affordable 'halo' card would bring in more profits & revenue.

This is essentially "Pascal refresh" -- bring a new product at the same price point as before ($699 FE), reduce the prices on the rest of the stack, and boom -- higher perf/$ at each price point, helping to stimulate demand 😉

Yes, great observation. This move was better than the first Kepler refresh, IMHO.
 
It's the next logical step. Looking at Quadro P6000, a 300W 3840 CUDA cores gaming focused Titan X 2017 could fairly easily offer another 10-15% performance on top of 1080 Ti. It needs to come with 24GB GDDR5X to justify a significant price premium over the latter IMHO.
 
I think it could still have 12gb of ram and be a full chip at $1200 and it will sell out instantly. The people who usually buy Titans simply have to have the best. They are willing to pay for it as often as necessary in most cases. It makes sense for Nvidia to capitalize on that. Selling the same person two $1200 cards in a span of 9 months? Not bad. A full GP102 will be badass. What would be really interesting is if GTX 2070 Volta comes in at $450 and matches full GP102 performance 12 months from now. Sweeet!
Honestly, If I was on the Titan product cycle, I wouldn't like being matched by the masses with their cheap budget 1080ti's. I'd want another Titan to reclaim my master race throne. A new Titan is in order.

I don't recall seeing any red PCB Nvidia cards, let alone a GTX 1070. If that GPU-Z screen is legit, it states MSI as the vendor, and I couldn't find any cards on MSI's page that look like that.

Nvidia TITAN X (2017) probably launching at GTC 2017 in May, 3840 CUDA cores, 12GB of 11Gbps GDDR5X memory, 528GB/s of bandwidth. Since no one will buy the Nvidia TITAN X (2016) now that the GTX 1080 Ti is out.

Is that significant enough of a boost over the previous Titan to warrant the release of a new Titan? I guess it's too early for the Titan Volta to be announced but I find the release strange. Perhaps this just shows my lack of familiarity with Titan releases.

Nvidia has done similar before. Kepler Titan was 2688 cores, and later they released a Titan Black with the full 2880. Obviously it did not sell well besides a few hardcore who must always have the best. Mainly because, for gamers not interested in DP, the only benefit over the 780 Ti was 6GB vs 3GB (Nvidia allowed 6GB 780s, but not 780 Ti since they wanted the Titan line to have something of value). A Pascal Titan Black would at least have more cores than the 1080 Ti, so with the right pricing it would convince some Titan XP owners to buy again.

I don't think it's likely though. Nvidia still competes against themselves, and a marginally better Pascal card is also a blow to Volta. Nvidia enjoys marketing the x70 cards as >= the previous Titan cards (at least at stock). No need to increase the risk of a 2070 not beating the top Pascal card for a handful of hardcore sales, imo.

A cutdown 471mm^2 die is their flagship chip right now. They are doing a great job of competing with themselves since this gives the 2070 a better chance to match it and also gives the 2080 more legitimacy as the new regent to the throne (until Volta Titan and Ti come out).

Have a look at these benchmarks I published on the HB Bridge using GTX 1080 SLI.

If you're talking about HB bridge versus a standard single bridge, absolutely - you'll pick up another 2-3% minimum. But two standard bridges used in tandem will have the same effect, so if you have at least one extra one laying around, you don't need to buy an HB bridge.
 
Does anyone else have coil whine on their 1080 or 1080Ti? My 1080 didn't have it but my Ti does and it's extremely annoying. Only noticeable on loading screens or when fps jump over 100fps

I don't think the three way bridge will work the same as two single bridges. I believe it's wired so that each of the card's SLI fingers are split - each finger "talks" to a different card. This is hinted at the fact that the J1-J6 numbers are not in order. I'm not positive about that, but if you happen to have plain old single SLI bridges, you'll probably be better off. Your Rampage IV Extreme included one, so maybe you have another board that came with one in the box as well.

That listing says 780 Ti once, and 780 twice.

I don't think the 780 Ti 6GB was ever released. Or if it was, it was VERY late into the cycle and right when the 980 was launching anyway. My quick google search couldn't find any official release, just rumours and confusion with 780 6GB launches. Even in July 2014, just 2 months before the 980 launched, there's an EVGA thread asking about 780 Ti 6gb:

I'm genuinely curious if it came out. If it did, it was late as heck anyway and possibly after the 980 launch. Titan Black was Feb 2014. I'll take any definitive proof of a hard launch if anyone can find it, but for now I'm going with planned but canned.

1080 Ti checking in, no coil whine here. FE directly from nvidia, if that matters.
 
I got coil whine. I've never heard coil whine before, I've just seen people complain about it. I had my head in the case with tomb raider running. I was turning the speed dial on my water pump to find the best setting and I heard some crazy static noise. Anyway, the card sounds like a high tension power line. Its kind of cool actually, but I'd rather it just shut the hell up. It only happens under load. I was afraid it was the OC causing it, but it happens at stock, so I'm ok with it. I read a lot of Pascal cards have it from 1070's all the way to these new ones, so no big deal.
