Give the 980 TI a healthy 25% overclock performance boost (which was the upper end of a typical 980 TI overclock) and give the 1070 a 12% overclock performance boost (which is fairly conservative) and the 1070 still comes out on top. The 1070 doesn't consume that much more power when overclocked, while the 980 TI has a more noticeable increase in power. Also as Sweeper said 8gb vram. It's definitely not a valid upgrade path for 980 TI owners, but there really is no decision between which card would be better to own when given the choice.

I posted again and again and again pcgameshardware results where they test aftermarket cards and 980TI is faster.Its 5-10% faster in every game and its running only at 1350Mhz.GTX1070 running there at 1900Mhz.

Latest two games tested and in both GTX980TI is faster.
RE7 980TI is 10% faster and 1070 vs 1080 gap is 30%

You should have no problem selling your GTX 1070 and getting a 980 TI for the same or cheaper. You should definitely do it; you'll sleep better at night and hopefully you'll quit thread crapping everywhere about how much you hate the GTX 1070. Plus, as you believe, you'll be better off. Everyone wins. What's not to like?

Nah i am waiting for vega.it will be my first AMD card since 5850.Both GTX970 and 1070 aging pretty bad and i want something that can hold more than 1-2years.
1070 would be decent x70 card with 2048SP 4xGPC and GDDR5x.But this crippled desktop model aging pretty bad.

And how many watts more does the OC 980 Ti draw? Oh wait I forgot TDP can just be handwaved away if one doesn't like the results.

Nvidia brings the new Prepare For Battle bundle

Nvidia has launched the new "Prepare For Battle" bundle offer that will include some hot new games for those that buy Geforce GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 graphics cards, as well as systems or notebooks equipped with those GPUs.

Those that buy either the Geforce GTX 1080 or Geforce GTX 1070, or any desktop or notebook system with those GPUs will have an option to pick a free For Honor or Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands game.

I don't think anyone who has an enthusiast class level GPU like a 980 Ti or 1070 cares about TDP.

If people don't see themselves moving up to the 1080Ti, then I would say $100 is too much for the iCX. The core temp differences are negligible and if you already own an ACX card with the thermal pad mod, then you won't notice much of a difference. They also went completely crazy with thermal pads on this card. It's pretty hilarious.

Prepare for new round of NVIDIA Volta rumors/leaks (from Baidu):

- The changes in Volta are significant, different SM structure - more than the Kepler/Maxwell transition
- Performance per watt improves at the same process (even if the process won't change)
- A Volta GPU at the same level of single-precision will deliver better graphics performance than the equivalent Pascal GPU
- ~1.5x the single-precision floating-point performance at equal TDPs (Volta vs Pascal)
- GDDR6 enters mass production in late 2017, GV104 is the first GPU for consumers (expect a 2018 launch)
- GV100 with HBM2 could still hit the market this year
- Geforce GTX 1080 Ti to be announced around March 10th
- Source is not sure about Geforce GTX 1080 Ti's exact specifications, but expects this: 3328 SPs, 96 ROPs, 12GB GDDR5 384-bit

I believe I said this in the past but Sweepr has done a fantastic job and kudos to all the other guys too for keeping this thread relevant. This is my go to NV thread every morning lol, I ask the mods to sticky this thread, it deserves it :)

These days NordicHardware reached by information from Taiwanese graphics card makers confirming that a launch of GTX 1080 Ti is only a month away. Graphics Card Manufacturers should already launched production of its new graphics card which internally demonstrated its new models. An exact launch date is said to not be completely nailed, but at this writing, it points toward a launch in the last week of March, probably between 20-23 March.

Some more details on the graphics card specifications could not be confirmed. It is said to be simultaneously developed partner cards that are now beginning to be manufactured, which means we may see third-party manufacturers Ti 1080 cards at launch or shortly thereafter.

Interesting enough, I'm GPU limited in FFXIV running OC'd GTX 1080 @ 3440x1440 Max settings. I didn't even think that was possible for an MMO. Haha.

But I doubt GTX 1080 Ti will be worth the money. I regret not just buying a Titan Xp and being done with it until Volta/Vega20.

Live and learn, I guess.
