OMG!!! Drooling... though I wont be when I see the price. 😛Q: How would you describe the difference?
A: I would describe it . . . as the difference between what looks like a video game versus what looks like a movie. You will see cinematic-quality results.

daywalker could you show me a link with a interview with nvidia where they say the GF3 and GF4 series will have cinematic-quality graphics? Not saying i don't believe you just want to see.

I dont have a link my friend but i could VERY gladly file transfer you the 90MB video of the presentation of the Geforce3 back in the beggining of 2001, hosted by Steve Jobs and John Carmack him self. The phrase "movie quality graphics" was coming out of Steve Job's mouth every 3 minutes. Not only that, but a Pixar animation was played by an Nvidia executive as well (powered by the Geforce3) and Steve Jobs was screaming "omg this is real tiiiime!"... sheesh.... And then ofcourse Carmack showed his Doom3 presentation and everyone was amazed. And how ironic, today a GF3 is a minimun in order to play Doom3.
Forgive me if i am a bit sarcastic in my posts, but i find it ridiculus when Nvidia promises AGAIN the same thing it promised about 2 years ago...
the NVIDIA GeForce3 GPU (for the Power Mac G4) packs a serious wallop. Driven by NVIDIA's shiny new "nfinite FX engine", the photo realistic quality of the images it can convey need to be seen to be believed. Incredibly detailed facial animations, lighting effects, and other such eye candy never seen before, is now possible with the advent of this new chip.
Really? I've never heard nvidia or Jen-Hsun Huang for that matter ever compare a video game to a movie like quality before?Originally posted by: daywalker

We have heard the same story with the GF3 and the GF4 series... Somehow we never saw movie-like graphics on our screens with the exception of Doom3...
I believe that the card will offer the same quality as the Radeon9700 but ofcourse in higher clock speeds. If we will see "cinematic-quality results" that is up to the developers.

NOX thats what i am still thinking too. The linked they posted is only by Steve Job saying it and its for the Mac. Not a PC. I do not see nvidia saying it for the pc or anyone yet saying it for pc with the GF3 or GF4. So is not at all proof for the pc only the mac with Steve Job saying it which i would of not believed anyway.
Powered by the new NVIDIA nfiniteFX(tm) engine the new GeForce3 GPU enables users to experience a rich, interactive environment. 3D scenes have ambiance with GeForce3 because objects appear photo realistic and custom lighting heightens drama and emotion. Characters and living creatures have organic behavior and unique expressions-their personality emerges. Programmability and performance are the catalysts for this graphics revolution.

Well, since you're "Livin' N'vidia Loca", perhaps you'd believe N'Vidia's own press release, FEBRUARY 22, 2001:
nVidia Geforce 3 Press Release:

Gee (pun intended) isn't that exactly what they are saying about the NV30?![]()

"Photo-realistic" and "Cinematic-quality" are totally different IMHO.

That actually brings up something very interesting I read in Firingsquad's QuakeCon 2002 Postmortem:Originally posted by: Bovinicus
Some interesting information from that article, good find. However, I do doubt that we will be seeing cinematic quality graphics. It just isn't possible unless developers take total advantage of the NV30s capabilities. We all know it will be a good year, if not two, before we really start to see games that encompass this technology. I do believe that the card is capable of outputting some very stunning graphics... Too bad most games are designed to run best on cards that are two generations behind...

NFS4 exactly i agree there is a big difference from photo-realistic and cinematic-quality. So far there is no proof of nvidia saying or pc makers that i have seen yet that they said the GF3 or the GF4 would have cinematic-quality graphics. Only for the MAC which Steve Jobs said which is not nvidia. I guess nvidia never said that the GF3 and GF4. If they didn't then who telling they are not saying the truth ?

In my humble (and flu-headed) opinion, "photo-realistic" would be a step up from "cinematic-quality". "Cinematic-quality" would stuff like what Pixar puts out, very impressive, but not "photo-realistic".
