Nvidia has canned NV48

I agree.

They don't have the need to do a refresh, as they can just make their current cards more available and SLI will allow them to still claim the graphics crown.

I just hope that they spend this extra time making the next gen card better.

The single most upgradeable/futureproof video card, which also offers the best bang/buck IMO s the PCI-e 6800GT (at least when you can find it for it's $399 and below MSRP), because it's about as fast as anything out there (marginally slower than the X800XT PE and the 6800U, of course) but upgradeable to SLI in the future.

Wow!! Finally, a graphics card company that is more interested in it's consumers than it is interested in being the fastest!!! (not counting SLI which dominates) I guess they finally hired a really good marketing team. Kudos.

SLI will never make it to mainstream so forget that ...oh I guess that has already been covered , sorry. 😀

I guess this is consider a good move on their part,, they can spend more time on rewriting drivers to enable the video processor on their 6800 so that WMV HD accelleration would work.

I really don't think SLI should be included in crowning the performance king. It uses two cards for freak's sake, ofcourse its faster. But I agree that the refresh deal is stupid, although that means my X800XT for next sumer will be cheaper now.

You can think about it all you want but that still doesn't change the fact that Nvidia's absolute highest possible offering outpaces ATI's absolute highest possible offering. When ATI presents their dual card solution, that may change. Doesn't matter if its 2 cards or 7 cards, it's still doable. The only argument you can have is cost. But cost usually doesn't mean much to the person who has to have the best of the best always. Which would be the ones going for SLI'd Ultras I would guess.

You can count me twice if you like. I gained a lot of weight this holiday season so far. LOL....

Hey Megaworks, who has the overall fastest single card solution between the Red and Green?
ATI right?
What card do you see in my sig?
Not ATI right?

I have my reasons and they are valid to me and that is what is important. So, if you feel the need to place me on one side versus the other, I could do worse than to be on "Team Nvidia" don't you think?

Now, I am going to play some HL2 on my 9700pro box. (It's my wife's rig).

keysplayr2003 relax, I'm just having fun here. If you want I can start a thread about which AT members are in team ATI or Nvidia.

Actually, I do see an ATI in your sig. But it seems to have the Suck burned right into the silicon. 😉

You can add me on there... even though I don't own any nvidia cards. 😛

Charge $50 for 5 more fps. Yeah ok. 😱
