Even todays cards are beginning to be bottlenecked at 1080p, depending on the game and scene of course. With GK110 and following cards reviewers might want to drop 1080p altogether or at least use some SGSSAA or something.

Like I said in the other thread, if Nvidia did not add AT LEAST another memory controller onto the die, then I don't see how they'll get a 15% performance increase out of GK104. If they are deciding to use 7ghz vram and keep the same 256-bit bus, that is a 16% memory bandwidth increase, so we'd be looking at 15% best case scenario.

I dont think they really care how much performance increase they get. Either way people are going to buy just to say they have the most recent card. 15% or 5% increase, they just want to stay on target for their release expectations.

A 55% increase over the 680? I thought there was a link saying AMD was only going to increase performance by 15%.

50% more bandwidth alone is going to improve performance quite a bit. Then an additional 62.5-87.5% of CUDA cores (albeit at lower frequencies) should net an increase of at least 30%.

That would be awesome, I'd love that kind of power for gaming and compute power for F@H, but I fear the GTX780, if it is in fact a consumer K20 based GFX card could go for something like $799US (roughly converting from 3dcenter's Euro prices - it's a German website).

Good point! Hopefully those prices did include VAT, in which case the US prices will be pretty close to the EU prices listed.

Dropping 1080p would be ridiculous when the vast majority of gamers are using 1080p or less.

Yeah, they tend to include VAT in quoted prices which seem to be near 1/5 of the cost (17-23%). The prices generally tend towards $1 = 1€.

Not exaclty. If AMD extracts 15% more performance out of the h7970ge for their 8970, then GK110's flagship GPU will have to be 25% faster just to match the 8970. At 40% faster than gtx680, we would be looking at a gtx580 vs. hd6970 type of performance difference (roughly 15%). I personally believe that between node maturity and ongoing tweaks to the Kepler architecture, Nvidia should be able to hit 40-50% faster-than-gtx680-speeds.

In either case it would be a good thing if that is what does happen, because Nvidia would be hard pressed to charge well over the $500 price point if AMD is close. Unless of course AMD comes out big on price again, I dunno I guess it doesn't matter they're going to do what they're going to do.

Fact is...we have LESS buying power than an american consumer.

If the buying power of a US consomer is 100, it's around 88 for a dane....due to "we pay"(tm)...aka "skat & afgiftsland"
