Wait for Lenovo to put on in a ThinkPad. Then you can justify it by citing the high quality keyboard. Your fingers get really achy on the other one, right??

I recently picked up a super cheap Dell laptop from Staples on special and that's going to be what I use as my notebook. Just sold my gaming notebook with a GTX 970M because I rarely used it for gaming.

My xps 15 model has a 960M in it with a core i7 6700 too but I don't game on it either just use Windows/Linux and some programming or Android stuff. It was too nice looking not to buy.

obviously not all of us wanted an Asus card.

at the end of the day, they're all the same, minus cosmetics.

Let me know if you decide to get rid of anything else, sheesh!

Laptopmedia.com just tested mobile GTX 1070 (85W). Really close to the desktop model:

Gaming benchmarks of the mobile GeForce GTX 1070 give us hope for 4K gaming on laptops

Tomb Raider 1080p Max
GTX 1070 mobile: 129 FPS
GTX 1070 desktop: 136 FPS

Hitman 1080p Max
GTX 1070 mobile: 75 FPS
GTX 1070 desktop: 80 FPS

GTA V 1080p Max
GTX 1070 mobile: 48 FPS
GTX 1070 desktop: 52 FPS

http://laptopmedia.com/review/palit...ew-gtx-1080s-smaller-and-yet-powerful-brother
Ok here is GTX1070 desktop benchmark in tomb raider 1920x1080 all max + FXAA
I downclock 1070 to match GTX1070 mobile version clock and set 85w TDP.
1070bgsau.gif

Results
119Fps
tombraider_2016_08_05uqski.png

So as i feared Mobile version in this game is 9% faster at same clock in 1080p.

EDIT 4k results:
Mobile GTX1070 44Fps
Desktop GTX1070 37.5Fps.
Its far worse in higher resolution. In this case Mobile version is 17% faster.Probably because Desktop version have only 48rops.

Ha that's the one I was trying to get. Totally forgot about eBay. I checked once but noticed it was out. Oh well I think I'll be happy with my EVGA ftw model.

How is your card? Any regrets? I picked one up today for myself after having a lot of luck with Evga over the last 6 years.

Just got it today. Installed and working properly. I was playing around with Heaven and overclocked the memory to 4063. I could have went higher as there were no artifacts at all but didn't know how much further I should go. I didn't play with the gpu clock at all. It seems pretty stable and stays really quiet. I do want to run the firestrike extreme test but it seems only the normal firstrike test is available.

That's only 8126 on the memory. My Zotac does 9500 plus. I'd imagine you should have lots of room left still.

Most likely, I didn't feel like sitting in front of it while it kept looping through all the Firestrike benches. I'm going to fire up doom in a minute and see how it goes. By the way I have not seen any more odd monitor refreshes since I installed the card meaning it was doing that last time due to Intel graphics. I set the monitor to 144hz and still am using that custom color profile.

The Dell is much higher nicer with a real gpu!

Firestrike xtreme requires you to upgrade to a paid version I believe.

Here is my Fire strike score on stock. I also played Doom and with a mix of High/Ultra settings I am getting around 100+ fps. I do have directional occlusion set to medium as I'm not sure what that does, shadows set to high and motion blur to high as I don't really like that. Sharpness all the way to 4 too. There are times it goes beyond 120fps and usually even stays in the 100+ area if I just set the preset to Ultra everything. Not sure what settings to stick it on and keep that way as both results are similar. Looks so much better than it did before. Oh and turning the gamma settings in Nvidia control panel to 0.8 makes the monitor pop out more and gives it an even more vibrant structure compared to the profile I'm running from OC UK forums.

Try the Ultra pre-set :)

Hmm, just a quick observation.. in Doom using Vulkan API I can clearly see a substantial FPS boost where it hovers around 180~200FPS where as in OpenGL4.5 its hovers at around 140~160FPS (indoors - nightmare settings with 8xAA). However I suffer from somesort of input lag that makes it unplayable. Anyone encountered this issue before? Just a quick look online seems to point out that its not an isolated case.

Yeah, Vulkan was a stuttery mess on GTX 1080 for me, so I switched back to OpenGL 4.5. Haven't tried the Vulkan renderer on my Titan X, but considering that id's Vulkan renderer just plain sucks on NVIDIA hardware I don't think I'm going to bother.

You mean mouse input lag? If that's the case try right clicking the exe shortcut and in the target field put in +set m_smooth 0 after the quotes.

So overclocking my card is taking forever. Going up in +10 increments on the memory first. I'm at +110 now and running heaven maxed out. Still no artifacts so that's good but I think I still have a while to go until I reach artifacts.

The Samsung RAM on these cards is pretty incredible. They are rated for 8GT/s but it seems they can OC to at least 9GT/s most of the time which gives quite the boost in memory bandwidth. I have my RAM at 9.4GT/s which gives me 300GB/s and a decent increase in performance.

That could be true. I stopped testing it today at +150 on the memory. I'll continue at that point again another day. Then I'll do the GPU clock and see how far that can go. I'm enjoying doom a lot more on this card and resolution compared to 1080p and my 7970ghz although that was a very good card too but it's better suited for my brother now.

I already done (+skipping intro etc etc). Mouse is not an issue but to clarify the keyboard inputs seems to lag. The doom marine felt very unresponsive when trying to move in any direction including jumping.

Went to microcenter today to pick up an 8320E and mobo for a server build and ended up walking out with that plus a i5-6600k, asrock z170m pro4s, and the zotac gtx 1070 amp extreme. My wife was definitely giving me the weird looks.

Haha that place is like a goldmine for computer parts. I always just order online and go straight from work to the pickup line. I've browsed around a few times and ended up walking out with more parts than i needed.

Should be a good setup, I like asrock boards and the 1070 is very enjoyable. Mine hasn't reached its overclocking point yet but honestly I don't really need to oc it, just want to see where it stops and put it back to stock once I reach that point.

Would you say your card is loud? Also, what kind of temps are seeing while at load? Ambient temp?
