Why are people considering $449 1070s good deals just because it can OC 10mhz faster than the ones that aren't?
Price doesn't dictate quality. $330 for my Asus ROG strix, can't beat that!
obviously not all of us wanted an Asus card.

Got my FedEx tracking for the 1070. It should be here Saturday which is perfect.
Haven't had a new card in a long time. What programs/guides are recommended for overclocking or benches and monitoring?
My 1070 is sitting in its box still unopened. I dont want to put it in my current/old system and get it "contaminated"
Waiting for my new system to put it into. hahah 😛

I hope that card isn't DOA like mine was. Leaving stuff in the box for any significant length of time is risky for this reason.
Agreed. Test it. Wear gloves if you have to.
Yea I'm going to go with the EVGA tool first and see how much it can overclock just for fun. I usually don't keep an overclock on them for games because I never felt like I needed it with my last card. The most popular tuning app is MSI Afterburner, but I believe EVGA's PrecisionX has been redesigned hand-in-hand with Nvidia to overclock Pascal-based cards, which operate quite differently than past generations with regard to clock speeds.
Use 3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Test #2 to test and break your overclock. It will cause a driver crash within seconds on an unstable overclock.
Ha that's the one I was trying to get. Totally forgot about eBay. I checked once but noticed it was out. Oh well I think I'll be happy with my EVGA ftw model.Tri-fan Gigabyte model for $399.99 at Ebay (from reputable seller. Got my i7-6700k from them).

I want see GTX1070M vs GTX1070 desktop benchmarks at same clock.
How much Mobile version will be faster. My bet is 10% faster than desktop.
i really hate Nv for doing this to us.They have 4xGPC 2048sp 1070 but they laugh at us and say:Forget it you will get only 3xGPC 1920xSP crap.Deal with it.
Of course it's not 85 watts. How could anyone possibly believe that? That's 980 TI speeds in a laptop at 85 watts! Holy sheeesh!
Edit: do you know for sure it is 85 watts?
The mobile version will be highly TDP constrained so the mobile version won't clock nearly as high, but I agree that its weird it has more active cores.

Just installed my GTX1070 FE card into my rig.

I wish I had an excuse to buy a 1070 based gaming laptop. I don't game on the go and am perfectly content with my iGPU powered budget laptop, hah.
