The press releases I read all indicated an AGP version will follow after the PCI-E is rolled out.

I agree, this really feels like the next Ti4200... Maybe I should buy some nvidia stock :) I would think nvidia would release a AGP Version as no one even has PCI-E boards....

Yes but they are the new FX5200s and 9600SEs of the gaming world...

The 6600GT supports SLI :D

Edit: My guy time is now Nforce 4 + Dual 6600GT + A64 Skt939 .09

Same, they'd be foolish not to, because this card is creating quite a hype :)

It makes no sense for NVidia to compete with themselves...each card, as it currently stands, appeals to a different buyer depending on the motherboard they have.

One problem, as i'm sure you've read, the 6800LE is based on a different core, and will be OEM only, meaning you won't be able to buy one ;)

Yeah, according to theinquirer.

The 6600GT is also OEM only. You think Best Buy or any other retail chain is gonna stock a PCI-Ex video card? 1) Hardly anybody has PCI-Ex boards so the cards would just take up valueable real estate and 2) over half would be returned by idiots complaining that it doesn't fit in the AGP slot. ;)

So long as they keep making 6800s, 6800GTs, and 6800Us, then there's no reason not to make the 6800LE.

Anyway, plenty of places to find oem video cards on the net. But, mark my words, 6800LE will go retail before 6600GT does.

I think the way a lot of us here will use the SLI capability will be to buy a single SLI-capable card that has good performance with current games, and then 6 to 12 months later grab a second one when the card is on the way out and the prices have been cut in half. That way you can easily almost double your performance when the games become more demanding without a major outlay of cash.

Except that the person I was replying to was dicussing the need for a dual AGP board which means you have an initial outlay for a new MoBo and 6600, plus another down the road. If you're going to all that trouble and expense you may as well switch to a PCI-E mobo.
