FXAA looks like 2x or 4x SGSSAA

Edit: FXAA3 vs. MLAA1 vs. SMAA vs. SGSSAA comparison:

In a standstill picture maybe. In motion? Doubtful.
Is it only me or does the lighting on the long metal part of the torch seem less sophisticated with FXAA? The shine on the lower edge is missing. Might be other lighting conditions, though.

I don't think it's a secret that FXAA generally blurs the entire a image a bit and reduces detail. For me the trade off in a game like BF3 is worth it though. My card can't handle BF3 with MSAA, but it can handle FXAA which looks a lot better than 0xMSAA. In Skyrim on the other hand, I'll always opt for MSAA over FXAA because my card handles MSAA just fine and it doesn't blur the image as much.

edit: cool to see something running on Kepler. This thing might get launched yet...

I wanna see some daylight shots of the improved unreal engine. All of them so far has been at night.

I note it said FXAA 3. FXAA is software, they are still working on it, I presume they improve it with each revision. Hence difficult to accurately comment on how good/bad this latest revision is by using past reviews done with FXAA 1 or 2.

Lottes has 4.0 on his blog, but in motion SMAA Tr2x looks a lot better than both MLAA and FXAA and loses only slightly to SSAA visually, but has merely a 2ms performance penalty. It's a shame these post AAs are criticized so badly as they're built into Dice's and Cryteks newest engines, and on the consoles. SSAA isn't practical because of the performance hit, and this particular demo running on Kepler is a great example of the practical use of a low cost post-AA. Visually, they can reduce digital artifacts like aliasing and keep the framerate within budget. The blur is cost.

I think the "oh this looks horrible" opinions will be overlooked when devs push visuals like "Samaritin" and Crysis out on platforms that aren't budgeted for traditional AA types. The poor man's AA in the console age. heheh.

Wow you're getting excited at.... wait for it.... a bag?! How many gigawatts is that bad boy, how many shaders does it have? Hey, I have Kepler too, look guys!

Gotta love the huge NVIDIA sticker on the front of the bag, just to make sure nobody can see what's in there.:hmm:

Does it really matter whether the GPU Mark Rein is holding is real or if it's Kepler? The card is going to be introduced next week and reviewed the week after. It exists, it's real, it's release is imminent.

I'd say it matters, but then again, what I say doesn't matter so in the end, it probably doesn't matter.

Now if the card is for whatever reason delayed, this point card-in-bag scenario might mean more than was originally thought.

Personally noticed that and these kind of features may improve over time.
