At first I was thinking Epic is returning to PC gaming. Then as I read it they make it sound like this is useful for consoles as they refer to cross platform.

If you consider adding one of the pillars of DX11(tesselation) and their physics API "in bed".
Yea, but everybody and his mother knows that Nvidia hardware runs tessellation better, so even though it may be a pillar of Dx11, it means UE3 will always run better on Nvidia when it's used. Also, this is probably just the beginning.

LOL, UE3 is a full out console engine. If its going to have Physx or tessellation, its just going to be added fluff like all the other games. I don't see this as anything significant.

Just look at the list of games notty listed. Most of them are multiplaform, that means physx won't do anything special. I mean GOW3 and Mortal Kombat are console exclusives.

Well god forbid if the software utilizes the hardware to its maximum potential. We dont want that now do we?

Tesselation dosn't run on consoles...neither does GPU physX, so you would be mistaken.

So you wouldn't mind if you bought a shiny new AMD card, only to find out that dx11 performance sucks in say Batman Arkham 3, because it's a UE3 game and only runs well on Nvidia? Yea, I thought you would.

Adding to what I said, I don't see this adding much as Tim Sweeney has already been working on UE4 and that should really use DX11 and not just tack on some features like they are doing now.

Not this BS again.

You cannot "tack" DX10 onto DX9.
You cannot "tack" DX11 onto DX10.

This myth (tacking on stuff...) really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really needs to die.

Thank you for that obnoxious post. Do you know what a figure of speech is? I know English isn't your first language, so go look it up so you don't end looking like a fool again.

Do you have anything to add to the thread topic or are you just meeting your daily trolling quota?

So you're saying they should cripple their games on nVidia cards because AMDs current cards can't do it. Presumably future AMD cards will catch up to nVidia. Physx I can understand being wary of, but tessalation is pretty standard now. Crippling tessalation is a shallow play just to make AMD look good.

Is this software PhysX or hardware accelerated PhysX? Article is not clear.

Turn off tesselation if it sucks so bad. Or dont buy an AMD card and send them a msg they need to up their tesselation performance compared to the competition.

I said what I had to say, that you post was false and a myth.
Make all the Ad Hominem you like to...dosn't alter the facts that you posted FUD.

This topic has been debated before and the "tacked on"-myth debunked to death.

Let it die

Really? Explain what I was talking about, what I meant and how it was wrong. This should be fun.

If you don't understand what a figure of speech is and you call it "FUD" ,whatever the hell that has to do with what I said, I have no idea, then I'm sorry that you have such a limited understanding of the language.

I thought I was on your ignore list? What are you doing quoting my post anyway?

Hardware, since they are working with Nvidia.

Even with the software based API (meaning it's CPU and not GPU) they'd still have to license it from nVidia. It would also make sense for nVidia to help Epic integrate PhysX into their game engine since the Unreal series of game engines are so widely used. Again, article is not clear and Google turns up nothing that would clear the matter up.
