Getting a reference card to melt would be hard. That's true.

But there's more than enough opportunities to terrorize Gigabyte or MSI and to some extent, ASUS.
Before caller ID, automatic phone systems and Internet support / email support, that was true. Today, it's pretty much impossible to be the degree of annoyance that gets things done.

I think these days if you want a company to do something you just need an Instagram or Twitter account with enough followers. No one but you gets to see their awful customer support hidden behind their phone system, but the whole world can watch them failing and flailing on social media.

That's true. Now I just need some followers.

In this space none of that is necessary. If you have a legit beef just hit up Tech Jesus. The GN team will have their C-suite or direct underlings on camera sweating bullets before it's over. :D

That Newegg one was pretty brutal. There were four guys in the room and only one had been there for more than 1-2 years IIRC. That and Artesian Builds come to mind.

He's moody. I sent him a request to do a deep dive on why Arrow Lake sucks so much out of the box. No reply. No video that I'm aware of.

He made me sad :(

Unfortunatly nobody really does deep dives anymore. A better person to ask might be someone over at Chips and Cheese. It's more of a resource thing with GN and ARL is old news by now.

LOL no one cares about arrow lake.

I hit Steve up about the low quality Aresgame PSUs, and he got back to me in 15 minutes. Turned out they were testing them and would have a vid about it imminently. I tested one for daily driving and it started failing in 6-7 months. The smooth brained toasty bros were promoting them at the time.

I know I talked a big game, but tomorrow I'm going to go to the UPS store and ship and insure the card for the RMA on my dime. I estimate around $250-275 after insurance. I'm bending over for Gigabyte again. Maybe I can get them for child support eventually. Last time this happened I went to BestBuy and bought the cheapest GPU they had so I could at least work and it really sucked. I was up front with the salesman and they said I just needed to return it before 14 days or something. I'll try to get a nicer one this time so I can still game a little, but I'll tell them again I'm just borrowing it and if they say no I will just be screwed.

EDIT: I shipped the card and it was $157. Using a 5060 ti for now.

Regarding the anisotropic filtering issue, it's good thing that they are working on it. Does make me wonder what other changes they made... Could explain the odd behaviour (performance) in some games.

It is supported but due to changes in the architecture, a different method is needed to filter out the textures that do not benefit from AF and should not have it applied to. This is coming in a future driver.

Let's take a victory lap. Steam Hardware survey shows that no one is buying Radeons. Blackwell appears all over the chart. What a massive surprise.

I know people like to cope about it but gamers will eat Nvidia's feces and they will enjoy it. There's simply no stopping it. It's got DLSS. That's what gamers want. I think the 5080 selling more than the 5070 Ti proves gamers are too idiotic to exist but I can't be sure.

I think it's more that OEM sales are way way more than DIY, even desktop now.
I don't really know about the mix of DIY/OEM for GPUs. But I did say repeatedly Nvidia would get their supply sorted out this year. And we're nearly there. That's all Nvidia has to do for gamers to bend over backward to buy the worst, most marginal SKU in the lineup.
