Here's a review of the 5050. Stock clocks are to the moon but still can't reach the 4060. Power consumption is comparable to the 4060 too.

It's quite close, so it's in the mix with that.

For curiousity, I did an in stock search on Newegg for GPUs in the $200 to $275 price range, and your best options are either a RTX 3050, or RX 6600, so if it actually shows up at MSRP, it might actually be the best option in that price range.

Video version for those that prefer to watch or listen.

Because the 3050 8GB still sells for $220+ it'll look really good by way of comparison, for tight budget shoppers after a team green product.

The 5060 is 33% faster and in stock everywhere for 20% more money at $300. 9060XT 8GB is in stock all over the place at $300 (and a bunch at NE that are $270 on promotion) and is 44% faster.

What a dog.
yeah xx50 cards never made sense. they were always dummy cards, almost on part with igpu perf.... terrible

most xx50 owners are either severely budget limited or have no idea what they have including overpriced pre-made machines etc

Yup 3050 outselling the 6600 by miles despite being inferior supports this.

Have any noticed this?

Heaven help us, we have RTX 5060Ti 16GB widely available at the "false" MSRP.

Is the GPU market imploding? Pity those companies that "must" be losing money at present.

Well, at least Best Buy has their PNY cards at $429. Slightly more interesting to me, is some of the 5060ti 8GB models are down to $350-380. People are definately avoiding many of these cards and definately the 8gb models.

Not really in the US although Newegg does have a Gigabyte model in stock for $459 right now.

Yeah, it will likely kill any iGPU except the Strix Halo, which it's probably pretty close to.
It's not even that close to Strix Halo.
Not exactly comparable since that's mobile 5050 which is the same chip with the same CU number, but GDDR7 with 20% more BW but much slower core clocks and lower TDP than the desktop part. Still well ahead of the 890M though.

The RTX 5050 is still miles ahead of an iGPU, and it really should be a great card for a budget esports or 1080p medium with upscaling on more demanding games. It's just too expensive relative to its competition and to its market.

It definitely will be, especially if he's testing at 1200p.

AMD's iGPU are in dire need of either LLC, a wider bus to the RAM or both.

Quick question for you guys.

In the market for a new gaming laptop. After some research, it appears the mobile 5080 is only marginally better than the mobile 4080. My conclusion is it's a better value to look for a 4080 than 5080, as far as mobile is concerned.

Am I off base?

Thanks!

If the performance isn't all that different, whether you want the 5080 depends on if Blackwell's new features are worth it to you.

Buy if you can get the 4080 laptop at almost clearance sale price.

Otherwise, usually a good idea to buy the latest because the older you buy, the sooner you lose driver support for it.

In that case I would look closer at the CPU as a selection criterium.

RTX 5050 beats the 1080 Ti after only 4 generations!

It beats it at stock too apparently.

Only at the "correct settings" meaning under 8GB.

When is Blackwell next coming??

This generation has been so boring…

Barely any uplifts from my 4070 super. I hope next gen is based on a N3 node. I want my perf/w improvements
