Really I rather just use the old style Vsync I don't know why AMD and nvidia are trying to reinvent the wheel LOL.AMD's adaptive Vsync works way better.

everyone but YOU seems to understand exactly what the point of it is but keep making yourself look silly.Yes you can just turn on regular Vsync it's worked for years until nvidia spewed out this propaganda with they adaptive Vsync.
So let me get this what you are saying. Adaptive Vsync was not mean to cure screen tearing ? Whats the point if it only works half way if it still tears it's still garbage IMO. I did not pay for a good GPU to have ugly graphics and headache inducing anomalies like screen tearing. hech this is something I would exspect from Intel GPUs but not nvdia or amd. Ya I understand what you are saying. IMO I would rather lock the frame rate to my refreshrate to maintain an ultra smooth frame rate with no spikes as above my monitors refresh rate is useless anyways as I am not able to use those extra frames to my advantage. Also as a bonus with traditional Vsync I don't get tearing when the framerate is below the refresh rate which is why I call BS on nvidias adaptive Vsync IMO.Adaptive Vysnc reduces tearing only when your framerate exceeds your refresh rate. If your framerate is below your refresh rate, then there will still be tearing. That's how it's designed.
If you don't like it, then use regular Vsync instead. Is something keeping you from using regular Vsync?

Most people like vsync because it keep the frame rate LOCKED to your monitors refreshrate therfore insuring smooth gameplay and IQ with no image tearing.
Guess this case is closed as we have found that I proved that Adaptive Vsync does not work and you guy's have told me that it is not supposed to work at under 60fps so it's settled. But I still don't like it. Also what is the purpose then ?
No.VSYNC can only lock the frame rate to the refresh rate if your PC is powerful enough to stay above the refresh rate. As others have already stated you don´t seem to understand how this is supposed to work.
VSYNC enabled and going under refresh rate does not ensure "smooth gameplay", you get massive stutter because the frame rate goes straight from 60 fps to 45 fps, then straight to 30 fps, etc.
With Adaptive VSYNC enabled VSYNC is disengaged when FPS < than refresh rate so that stutter caused when jumping from 60 to 45 to 30 fps is minimized, but obviously image tearing returns because VSYNC is effectively OFF .
If you prefer stuttering over tearing then stick to normal VSYNC, preferably with triple buffering enabled.

Well just for the fact that it has the word Vsync in the title tells me that it must do the same thing as Vsync but apparently not.I think headhumper has a point that the marketing literature and some of the review sites seemed to infer that tearing was eliminated with adaptive vsync. At least I was under that impression...
