Conspiracy Theorists to the rescue!!!!!!!

No doubt a little of both.

I highly doubt the core will be only 470.

Everyone has their priorities Overgloc.

You can get rid of most of the shimmering just by using High Quality and the latest drivers.

It'll cost you some money to get rid of the dustbuster on a XT, and I don't know what you can do about the slower performance.

I really dont understand what the big deal is about the price. The X1800XT is selling for $600 or mroe right now. Why should Nvidia's offering be any different.

You're already gonna pay $600 for an X1800XT, why wouldnt you pay an extra $50 for a faster card?

Oh yeah, that's right, you're fanboys.

The MSRP on the XT is $549. It'll come down to MSRP and less once the cards start showing up in reasonable numbers, just as happened with the XL.

So if the new GTX card has an MSRP of $650, then it's $100 more than the XT. If you consider that a good deal then by all means get your credit card ready to go.

Have you looked at this?

Here's a quote:

"Due to an IC substrate shortage, supplies of ATI?s Radeon 9250, X300, and X550 are short of demand at present, according to sources at graphics card makers. Although the chip vendor launched its 90nm process R5xx series only in the latter half of this year, the Radeon X1800, X1600, and X1300 are also limited in supply, the sources added."

Good luck getting an XT at MSRP. You can buy your XT here if you've got the $699.00

i honestly can't believe a company like ATI has stumbled so badly like this. as of right now, their mid-highend cards are not at all competitive with Nvidia's offerings price wise. add to it the limited supply, and this is simply a terrible cycle for them. i really hope they improve with the 580 series.

In guru3d the default clocks of the 512mb GTX is 560/1600.

Link

We could see some insane clocks on the ram. Notice the 900(1600). Think about the OC on the rams. Could easily hit 1000mhz (thats 2000mhz DDR effective) on air.

I wonder if the prices on these beasts would drop like the GTX? I highly doubt it, but its really up to how fast the performances are. Lets wait for the benches.. xD

The only thing impressive about this card is the memory frequency. I'm guessing the much costlier KO edition might have 500+ core speed. I'll definitely be passing on these, bring on G80/R600!

We still have R580 to deal with first ;).

So would you consider yourself a fanboy if Ati releases a 700+ mhz XT PE and the thing sells for $700, but you decide it's not worth the price?

700 mhz is fine. Dont forget the drivers still need some improvement to see the full potential of the r520.
