Yep if these are the reference clocks then the core is a lot lower than was expected (550 standard) and the memory is 100 mhz short of the 1800 mhz that was speculated. The only thing impressive about this card is the memory frequency. I'm guessing the much costlier KO edition might have 500+ core speed. I'll definitely be passing on these, bring on G80/R600!

I'm waiting for the benchmarks for sure... that's not as good as I was anticipating, and I want to make absolutely sure that the card is excellent before I blow that much money on it.

My guess is that probably isn't right. Why? Because there's already 256MB cards selling at higher core clock speeds. It would stand to reason that the 512MB, if the memory is going to be bumped, will have a higher core clock speed than what you can buy on the 256MB one.

Perhaps Rollo can shed some light on numbers???
470/1700 makes me want to get a x1800xt esp. if the x1800xt is found at MSRP (or below) by the time this card comes out.

He can't, and won't, most likely. The NDA precludes such information being revealed to the public, which is why you haven't heard any information from me, either.

all i know the people who get 7800GTX(ultra) as soon as it comes out maybe upset when ATI comes out with its PE. From what I have heard on this fourm XT has alot of head room on core and memory.

When does the PE even come out?

Of course, we have no reliable info whatsoever that ATI is coming out with a PE, and they can't even seem to get many XTs out the door, but what the heck?
If you're gonna dream, dream big!

Nothing has been announced, but it would be fair to assume that, once 1.1ns GDDR3 is more widely available, you'll see at least an X1800XT equipped with it. ATI has said that the R520 is built to be able to use much faster RAM than what it shipped with, so it shouldn't be a huge design change.

A 470/1700 512MB 7800GTX card at ~$600 street and a ~550/1800 "OC"/"Ultra" version for $650-700+ wouldn't really surprise me at all, given NVIDIA's current market position.

Hehe, funny how the specs on the 7800GTX 512MB are dropping already. I knew the rumors were too good to be true.

We just don?t see the end of this, as we think that $549 is already an insane amount of money to spend for a graphic card. What happened to $399 as a top barrier? Are we so blinded with marchitecture that we didn?t figure out that Nvidia and ATI are ratcheting the prices up every single generation? [I dunno Fudo. You tell us. Ed.]

Some wise words here from the Inquirer. As long as a few suckers are willing to pay these ever-increasing prices, the graphics companies will just keep rasing 'em. $1000 video cards, here we come. Winners: Nivida & ATI. Losers: Us.

And anyone that buys into that because it's posted ANYWHERE doesn't understand inflation, capitalism, or the cost of technology.

Shoo, fly, let the educated adults chat.

It's this same mentality that says nVidia and ATi should be manufacturing AGP versions of their high end cards, btw.

In respect to the NDA or Spec sheet typo????
Conspiracy Theorists to the rescue!!!!!!!

OMGWTFBBQPWNED??

Ahem... maybe they really did have an issue with the listed specs of the card... if they end up changing the specs for the better, then it becomes a little easier to justify spending an ungodly amount of money on a card like this.

Welcome to people who have too much money that they will spend it on a video card on the first day it comes out.

Watch, in two months it'll be much more reasonably priced.

$650 seems right for an initial price. Rememeber video cards are going up in manufacturing cost too. This card is coming from Nvidia, that means the streetprice will likely go down within weeks dispite what the official msrp may be. Just as x800xt PE was $100 over msrp for almost months, availibility will decide what the true price is.

Oh and I doubt a 1.1ns X1800XT pe will help ATI any, a 60/200mhz increase will not scale anywhere near what a 120/500mhz bump will do architecture aside.
