Just saw the guru3d Eyefinity demo linked to by MarcVenice. I like it a lot, at least as an initial impression. 3 23" LCD monitors at 1920 x 1080 won't be a problem for me, I can get the three for a lot less than a Samsung 42" 1080p LCD TV (yeah, LCD TVs aren't great for gaming anyway, but I've had my heart set on one of those until now that 3 23" LCD monitors might be an alternative).

I wonder how I can try out 3DVision. Right now I only have an 8600GTS. Will that work? Can any polarized 3D glasses work, or will it have to be the nVidia supplied one (is there such a thing? Pardon my ignorance, I really haven't heard much about 3DVision before).

Make a red/cyran glasses and go youtube for games in 3d. 3D vision from Nvidia don't work with any other 3d glasses but the low tech red/cyran glass, or its 3d glasses. The red/cyran glass works in youtube regardless of the video card.

For the Nvidia's 3D glasses to work, you will need a 120 Hz monitor and a video card above 9800 GT. The glasses alternately block one side of the glass at 120Hz, allowing each eye to see at 60hz. In other words, each of your eye see a different scene, resulting in a 3D visual effect.

While I was at my local fry's checking out their TV selection, I noticed they had a different demo unit (EA's Burnout Paradise) set up there, now open for the patrons to play it.

Much unlike that earlier demo I saw, this one was actually quite good. I wouldn't say it was all that realistic or immersive, but still kinda fun in its own way. I am not sure if I preferred playing with it on, or without it - it may turn into something kinda fun to use for a change every now and then.

To be fair, I have only spent a total of 10 minutes or so on it. It suffices to say it didn't gave me any headaches or any other problems. The only real problem I noticed was how stuff passing by above your head (street lights, traffic signs and whatnot) were kinda stuttering - could be just that they had vsync off on that machine?

Anyways, I am under impression that 3DVision has more things in common than different from eyefinity in terms of utility and affordability; not perfect yet quite good when works well, just that both require a serious investment to get it going as of yet.
