...well, i woudn't burry OpenGL that easy, if a company that can bring openGL back, that one is valve :)

OpenGL will come back with ARM - nVidia's Logan and ImgTech'a Rouge have both full 4.3 support.

Nvidia being lazy... or focusing all on CUDA (as a ploy to keep OpenCL down).

I think Intel&AMD are enough to keep OpenCL alive.
DirectCompute isnt dieing because its Mircosoft,
however I dont think OpenCL will die either.

It just means nvidia users suffer, if there are OpenCL programs, or they buy AMD instead. Same as if someone needs CUDA.

Well...CUDA is more used than DC or OpenCL right now...so yeah...NVIDIA "suffers" :whiste:

CUDA is well stabelished

DirectCompute, have yet to go out of games and excell

OpenCL is becoming very big at smartphones, it seems that only nvidia and microsoft won't support OpenCL

At least the last 10 big threads in this forum have turned to crap with things like CUDA vs OpenCL... Good lord I just wanna see some benches! Not the same argument x10. I don't even have a GeForce card but I'm still curious at how they're looking.

That was why I originaly asked if with the new Nvidia drivers if Titan has OpenCl support with it now, and if anyone will do a benchmark like Luxmark to see what it is like compared to an AMD HD 7970.

The fact that they shipped Titan with entirely non-functional OpenCL drivers is pretty shocking. Especially considering it's just a slightly cut down version of the GPGPU focused Tesla.

What's shocking about the fact that Nvidia uses CUDA instead of OpenCL which they have no interest in because it's an open source lesser version of CUDA?

OpenCL can't even replace CUDA becuase it can't do what CUDA does.

I've worked with both, I know plenty about OpenCL's limitations. But OpenCL gives you the potential to have a single codebase running across a whole range of different GPUs- including integrated ones, which have serious potential in eliminating a lot of the bottlenecks in GPGPU. (Working in place with the same memory and not having to manage all the various uploads and downloads is a real godsend, let me tell you.) OpenCL does plenty that CUDA doesn't, just as CUDA does plenty that OpenCL doesn't.

It seems that with this driver OpenCL is running.
Luxmark 2.0 room: 715 points - Titan @ 1134MHz.

It's not the drivers. It's the hardware. Kepler is not going to perform as well as GCN in OpenCL. Maybe Maxwell will do better?

Source? Interested to know why that's the case.

Also is bioshock 3 related (storywise) to the previous 2 games? I found the 1st game to be pretty good but haven't played the 2nd yet.

The second game took place after the first, and there are references to the first, but otherwise it's a separate story. The third is in no way related (at least not plotwise) if I understand correctly. I love both games, and am expecting I'll love this one too.

Just played the game for half an hour, but now I really have to go to bed ;-)
The initial impression is very good. It feels more vivid to me then Bioshock 1 & 2. Much more like a real open world. I always felt Bioshock 1 & 2 had unexiting levels, but then again it was more a survivial/horror shooter and I feel Bioshock Infinite goes in a different direction (which I like much better).

That being said: 3D-Vision is not supported with the last official WHQL driver (314.07). Did the change log of the beta driver mention support for 3D-Vision?

BTW: I had a constant 60 FPS in the game on Ultra High and 1920 x 1080 with a GTX 670.

EDIT: Just updated and 3D Vision is still not recommended :-(

I'll have to look. I've read a few things over time. I'll have to try and find you something.

Don't get me wrong, OpenCL does require that the drivers support it and the hardware supports the instructions. Once that's done though, then it's all down to the hardware.

That might be true for GK104, but the full fat GK110 is seriously compute oriented. There's a reason why they've been selling most of the chips as Teslas.

Given that OpenCL, CUDA etc can essentially take arbitrary C code, we're looking at code which is starting to get seriously complex to compile. And they've been trying to improve optimising C++ compilers for literally decades now, and they're still finding ways to make them better. Don't rule out the software improvements so lightly ;)
